Consequences

My father's guilty face keeps flashing in my mind as does my mother's hesitation in answering my questions.

If it weren't for my classes waiting back at Hogwarts I would have probably gone crazy.

I feel the cool splashes of water against the lake. Spring is a beautiful look on Hogwarts.

For the past few days I've been avoiding human contact.

Albert, my brother. Is maintaining the distance between us.

It's strange really.

Tom has been busy. But I cant find it within myself to care.

"Eliza.."

I dont have to look to know its him.

"I'm ready." I say standing up, a soft smile on my face.

But its cracking.
I'm breaking.

It was time to open Ravenclaws Chamber.

He has no idea what happened.

And it's ok I don't want to believe it myself let alone tell it to someone.

We go to the Tower. We are both lost in our own thoughts.

Instead of taking the way that leads to the Ravenvclaw dorm we turn toward a portrait shifting it to release a passage.

"Lumos." And our wands are lit up.

It doesn't take long to reach a dead end.

Except it is not a dead end.  The wall is full of carvings and there are spaces in the wall.

Tom produces a pouch opening to reveal the stones I'd stolen.

He puts them in carefully, reverently.

When it's done I hold my breath. For a moment nothing happens.

Tom swears under his breath.

Then the wall moves.

To reveal a chamber. We hesitantly slip inside . Suddenly the lanterns blow into life.

Right in front of us is a reading table upon which a book is kept.

With slow careful steps we enter the chamber.

Tom checks for any curses before touching the book. Ever careful he opens the book.

"Welcome Witty master. To find what you need one last riddle to complete."

The words echoed out of the book.

"Two rewards
A single curse
Two trophies
An empty purse
The crown lies
Upon its throne
Time can never
Be stopped but
Always change
Fire will burn
Away all words
Choose carefully
From chambers three
Be ruined or walk out free." Tom read out.

One thing was clear that we had three choices.

The part was figuring out which was the one we wanted.

He turned the page.

"Be warned young or old
Many have come to steal this gold
And ended up with everything sold
If you win you deserve the glory that shall unfold."

In hindsight we should not have ignored the warnings  but then again we were already here.

The walls rumbled to reveal paths to three entrances.

The first one had what seemed like a pensive. Scattered around it bones.

Another had nothing but markings and a chest whose contents weren't visible.
