Percy stared at the glowing object that sat on the mess hall table in the Argo II.
Percy knew Nico must've left it there on accident, Percy should return it.
Of course he will... After Percy tries it on.
Percy slowly approached Nico's skull ring that seemed to be calling Percy's name.
Without hesitating, Percy slipped on the ring; and for a moment, Percy expected it to give him Nico's powers (ability to shadow-travel, raising the dead, ect.).
It was just a ring, nothing special.
Percy sighed, then attempted to take the ring off, it wouldn't move.
Percy tried again, the ring was struck.
"Oh no," Percy mumbled.
Percy tried everything, using butter to slip the ring off, placing his hand in hot water (which didn't affect the son of Poseidon) and tried to tear off the ring, and more.
It was settled, the ring wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.
That afternoon, Nico walked on deck where the rest of the demigods were chilling.
Nico furiously searched the deck, on top of the mast? Nope.
Hidden in the steering wheel? No.
Under Frank? Na da.
"What are you looking for, Nico?" Hazel asked.
"My ring, I forgot where I left it." Nico answered.
Percy casually whistled, as he shoved his hand, that was wearing a glove, into his pocket.
"Well, I haven't seen it." Leo told Nico.
"Neither have I," Annabeth said.
"I'll help look for it." Jason suggested.
More casually whistling, thought Percy.
"Percy? Have you seen Nico's ring?" Piper asked, checking by the Greek fire.
"What?! No! Pssh, ring? I haven't seen any ring!" Percy panicked.
Nico raised an eyebrow, "Percy, show me your hand."
Percy lifted his plain hand.
"Your other hand."
Percy lifted his hand that wore a glove.
"Percy, take off the glove."
"No thanks, it's a little chilly." Percy said.
"Percy," Annabeth warned.
Percy blushed as he took off the glove, revealing the stuck ring.
"I can explain," Percy started, as the rest of the crew tried not to laugh.
Nico walked over to the son of Poseidon, and clicked a hidden button on the skull's left eye.
Instantly, the ring slipped off Percy's finger.
"But-?" Percy stared in awe at the ring.
"My father gave me the ring. The ring glues itself to whoever's finger so it won't be lost; if you click the left eye, it comes off just like that. The right eye helps me contact my dad." Nico explained, as he slid on the ring on his right hand.
Percy opened his mouth, then closed it.
"Cool," was all the Seaweed Brain could manage.
