________________________Development
The development of wings is also greatly misunderstood. First of all, it is not a painless process. In the case of humans/humanoids with wings, children are not born with them. Instead they grow in over a period of the child's first two years of life, allowing them to be able to fly around the age of 3 or 4. For full feathered characters, such as animals, birds are born with the same stumps and initial fluff that will fall off over time and be replaced by flight feathers, and their flight-able age is determined by pre-existing nature reports you can find on Google.

Finally, adapting your world to your characters is really important, and allows the reader to have a feeling of how different the world is compared to ours. But it is also important to make the world logical and operational. A character with wings does not just 'put on a shirt', no, they wish it would be that easy. Instead they have struggles with many everyday things due to their wings and it's important that these things are either addressed or solved in a story.
