Jayne Plain worked with many maids and servants at Octavia's castle, she had to be careful though, she had the body of a 10-year-old but the brain of an adult, she didn't want to appear off as being some kind of child prodigy for intellect and get sent off somewhere only for people to realise that when she matured into her later years that she was just painfully average.

Jayne couldn't remember how 10-year-olds were meant to act, she always acted either too immaturely or maturely for her age, baffling those around her and her constant mood swings.

One thing Jayne forgot was that sugar was basically child cocaine and was on a sugar high after devouring some. The head maid during this period reprimanded her by sending her out to clean the muck out of the stables.

She's a maid! Not a stable boy, that's why they have stable boys. She uttered curses under her breath as she was forced to change from her dress into some pants.

Stomping into the stables, she would have to endure such a thing. She got ready to go into one of the stalls, only to find a boy already inside, she thought nothing of it, and moved to the next stall to clean it out.

With her pitch and her bucket, she got to work. But of course, when one is bored with what they're doing, their mind drifts off. And Jayne was the type of girl to sing a little tune whilst working.

"I envy the birds,
High up in the trees,
They live all their lives,
So purposefully,

I envy the spiders,
The squirrels and seeds,
They all find their way,
Automatically."

"What song is that? I've never heard of it."

That boy from the stall next door peeked his head over. She abruptly stopped, embarrassed that someone heard her. She turned around to see him, brown hair and big brown eyes that bored into her soul with curiosity.

His face was telling enough that she already knew who he was, although his face was that of a child, she could tell that it was Abraham Morton, another love interest in this game. Abraham is a lowly orphan who was taken in by a man who worked at the castle's stables, he's actually the first capture target Octavia meets, he was one of the horse riders that was pulling the carriage she was in that took her to the ball.

Now how was Jayne meant to explain that the song she was singing a song that didn't exist in this world, "It's a song my mother used to sing."

"Used to? Why doesn't she sing it anymore?" The curious little boy titled his head.

"I..."  Jayne was baffled that he asked such a question, "Well, she sung it when she used to tuck me in bed, and she no longer does that."  She nodded, more to herself than to him. She continued on cleaning

"Why doesn't she tuck you in anymore?"

Damn this boy and his questions, "Because I'm a big girl now."

The boy scrunched his face, not believing it, but dismissed it.

"I'm Abraham."

She already knew that.

"Jayne."

He beamed "Let's be friends!"

Jayne pondered on the thought, she did want to meddle so that life wasn't excruciatingly boring, and this may be a good start.

Befriending the capture targets! Now that would be meddling. The original Jayne never even met any of them, maybe if she got to know them (or in this case, one) her rank in this story may go up from a 'minor character' to a 'side character'!

Surely nothing devastating would happen, right? Oh who cares, live in the moment, worry about the future when it comes.

"Sure, let's be friends."

She moved her arm out for him to shake, which he took fervently, doing that thing children do where they shake your hand violently and move it extremely high and extremely low.

Jayne had to look down at him in order to see him, he was at least half a foot smaller than she was. Since he nearly dislocated her shoulder, she decided to violently ruffle his hair and put him in a headlock.

"Ey! Ow, that hurts! Stop!" Jayne laughed and let him go.

"I can't help it when you're that small." She stuck out her tongue.

"Hey, well, when I'm taller than you I'll show you how strong I am."

She scoffed, "Sure you will."

Abraham shook his head up and down vigorously.

"Well, if you're so strong, then that means you have the muscles to carry this bucket outside all the way to the stream." She pointed towards the bucket of manure.

He stared at it, "I'm not falling for that."

He was smarter than he looked, "You can just say you're not strong enough to carry the bucket yet, it's okay, I mean, I can carry it, even though I'm a girl."

She then lifted the bucket to show her nighty strength. This immediately caused Abraham to dash to her and take the bucket from her. He may be somewhat smart for a child, but he is still just a child.
