XXXIII

" You okay bro?" Mesiah asked me playing the game.

I nodded, " I'm good."

Jenici rolled her eyes, " No he isn't. He got my sis all sad and shit."

" What!? What did you do to my girl?"

" Didn't say anything, that's what I did."

" He didn't tell her whatever he has going on with himself and she feels like he doesn't trust her." Jenici said glaring at me.

I looked at her, " How do you know this?"

" I stopped by and she just looked miserable and the fact you still ain't speak to her is crazy. I would of been left."

" How long has it been?" Mesiah asked pausing the game.

" 2 weeks."

Mesiah sighed, " Come on man. You ain't speak to her for 2 weeks and you think that's okay?"

My little brother is making sense and I just want to know how. I do need to talk to her but to be truthful, I'm scared that shes not going to want nothing to do with me.

Jenici nodded, " Go talk to her. We got Jay."

I picked up my keys and made my way to get my girl back. Hopefully.

" I'm leaving in 10." I said to Nia on the phone.

" Okay meet you there."

She hanged up and I grabbed my things. We are going to the mall to do some shopping and hopefully take my mind off of things.

I heard my doorbell, " One second!"

I left my room and opened the door to see Eli. I didn't have any words so I just stared at him. I didn't know if I wanted to hug or kill him.

" Can we talk?"

I nodded and let him in. I sat at the table messing with my nails. I texted Nia because I wasn't sure how long this would take.

" How've you been?"

" Okay, you?"

He shrugged, " Not so good."

" Oh."

He sighed, " Look, when I tell you that I'm sorry, I mean that shit from the bottom of my heart. I know I messed up when I wouldn't talk and I understand that. I understand from where you are coming from as well. Communication is the key and I failed to do that. I trust you 100%, I swear I do. I'm sorry for falling as your partner because I know shit hasn't been easy for you and I just want to move forward."

I had tears in my eyes but I wouldn't let them fall. " How do you plan to move forward from this?"

" By telling you who that man was and why he has an effect on me."

" Eli, you didn't speak to me for 2 weeks and the only
time you did, it was for Jay. That made me feel like something was wrong with me but then I had to realize that I didn't do anything. I know I'm not perfect but I do try because I-." I stopped myself before I let myself say those words. These past 2 weeks made me realize that I do love him, I love him a lot.

" I'm sorry for making you feel like that but there is something that I want to say and I want you to hear it. I promise that I'm going to better myself. So after I tell you, I don't know if I will go to therapy or just let that situation go all together but I'm going to do better. Because I love you."

I was honestly shocked at those words and those tears that I made sure weren't going to fall, they just did.

He grabbed my hand, " Nadia, I love you with everything in me."

I hugged him and just let the tears fall, " I love you too."

He let me go and kissed me. " Don't give up on me." He said with tears.

" I won't."

Later that day

" Eli, I'm sorry." I said not sure what to say by what he told me.

He continued rubbing small circles on my palm, " I just want him to leave, I don't understand why he came back."

" He didn't tell you anything."

He shook his head, " No but if he comes near anyone I love especially my son, I will kill him."

" You should tell the police."

" And say what. 20 years ago, my uncle touched me."

" It would help, you don't know if he's doing this to other kids and that's the scary part. You might make a change."

He sighed, " I don't know."

I kissed him slow, " It's up to you."

He put his head on my chest and I had my legs on his lap.

" What have you been up to?"

I sighed, " A lot has been happening, my sister has cancer and she's pregnant with my niece. My brother is breaking down slowly and I'm trying my best to help out. So Ill be having Junie a lot which I don't mind. Next week I'm going to talk with my mom."

" Damn baby, I'm sorry. You been dealing with this and I just sat here letting you."

I shook my head, " Don't blame yourself, stuff happens." I said trying not to think about the pain Gio is in.

" If you need help with anything, just let me know."

" Okay. Can you cook for me?"

He chuckled, " What do you want?"

" Anything."

He stood up, " Now you know I don't know how to cook, but I'm going to try."

I smiled, " Okay."

He bent down and gave me a kiss, " I really do love you."

" I love you to."

" Tía!"

I heard my bedroom door open and sighed. I opened my eyes and seen my niece in her onesie.

" Yes?"

She came on my bed and gave me a kiss on my cheek, " Morning Tía."

I did a small smile, " Morning baby."

" I'm hungry."

" Okay let me get up and brush my teeth. Is your room a mess?"

" No Tia. I cleaned up before I came in here." She said with a big smile.

" Good job baby. Go choose what you want to eat and I'll be out there soon."

" Si senora."
