"What the hell Joe?" Carter and Allison asked in their own ways. They ran to Alex and Zoey. Alex got off of Zoey and rolled onto his back while holding his shoulder. Carter checked over Zoey and grabbed his gun that was laying on the ground. Allison was trying to help Alex but every time she got close, he would move backward.

"I'm fine dad," Zoey said and looked to Alex who still looked terrified and ready to bolt out of the room. Zoey began trying to move over to Alex, but Carter stopped her. "Let me go."

Alex heard Zoey asking her dad to let her go. Alex being the hero he is he jumped up and pushed Carter off of Zoey.

"Leave her alone," Alex said. Carter looked and saw that he hadn't grabbed his gun again. Zoey stood up and began looking at Alex's back. He was bleeding too much.

"Alex, we need to get you patched up before you pass out," Zoey said. Alex looked to Zoey.

"I have had worse, I'm fine."

"No, you're not. Come, I can help you." Zoey said pulling Alex away from her dad and to the infirmary. They all began moving to the infirmary, mostly trying to keep an eye on Alex. Zoey got Alex to agree to Allison patching him up and when a numbing agent was about to be given to Alex, he stopped her.

"No, no needles filled with stuff, just pull the bullet out and sew me up," Alex said.

"I don't feel comfortable not giving this to you Alex," Allison said.

"Well, I don't feel comfortable at all." Alex snapped at Allison. Allison took a step back. Alex looked to Allison feeling bad. "Sorry, you would be wary of needles too if you went through what I have been through."

"Alex." Zoey was worried about him even more now. She was thinking about how in the world someone could something so wrong, even though she didn't know exactly what he was talking about.

"If your worried about me jumping as you pull the bullet out of when you sew me up, don't. I can handle it, Allison." Alex said looking at her in the eyes with confidence.

"Okay Alex. We will do it your way, but if you as much as an inch I will stop," Allison said. Carter grabbed her arm.

"Is this really a good idea," Carter whispered to her.

"No but he will pass out if I don't. I really don't want him to dislike us anymore than he does right now." Allison whispered back. Carter let her go and she began sewing Alex up and pulling the bullet out. Zoey was watching Allison's work and keeping Alex company. He didn't even show any pain as Allison removed the bullet out. Carter and Joe even winced a bit at how much Allison had to pull to get the bullet. Alex just sat there looking at the floor.

"Didn't that hurt Alex?" Zoey asked when she saw her dad and Joe react.

"A bit but not bad. Trust me, when you get shot close to the heart that hurts more than this." Alex said. Zoey was taken aback. Alex looked to Zoey. "I have said too much."

"No Alex. Please, we want to get to know you. You're going to be here for a while." Zoey said with a smile. Alex had a small smile.

"I may be here for a while." Alex agreed.

"Why did you join us at lunch? Once we are done here we can go into town and get food." Zoey said. Allison and Carter were about to tell them that it was a bad idea, but Alex had to open his mouth.

"Sure. Sounds good to me. I don't know when the last time I had something to eat." Zoey then looked to Allison and Carter pleading to let them do that. Allison looked to Carter.

"He should eat something," Allison said.

"Yeah." Carter looked to Zoey and Alex. "Okay we can go get something to eat."
