I'm Where?

Part 3

Carter just parked his jeep when Henry walked out to greet him at Dr. Kay's house. They shook hands and began their journey down to the basement. Henry began talking about what he found, "This shouldn't have been possible Jack. There was really nothing hooked up to the machine. I looked at his plans, but they all seem wrong and out of date."

"Interesting. What was he making then?" Jack asked.

"The only thing I can think of is that it is just a gateway. Someone on the other side was controlling it." Henry said.

"And they just wanted to get rid of the kid in their world," Jack said.

"That is possible," Henry said a little confused.

"I think that is what happened. Dr. Kay's evil self-wanted to get the kid to a different dimension so that he was a problem in theirs's." Carter said.

"I am missing some information here," Henry said.

"Dr. Weir, Dr. Kay's partner told us that he was able to talk to his other self in a different dimension and told of a kid that was running their plans. That kid's name is Alex Rider and he is the kid we found today." Carter said.

"This is big Jack. He may never be able to go back home." Henry said.

"I am afraid that is a possibility," Carter said.

"This will cause some big changes. We don't know anything about him." Henry said.

"All I know is that he worked for MI6," Carter said. Henry took a take back.

"Isn't he under 18?" Henry asked.

"Yes, I believe so. He looks to be 15 or 16." Carter said.

"I can't believe this," Henry said.

"Neither can I but he is in the infirmary right now and Dr. Weir told me all of this. We have had weirder things happen in this town." Carter said.

"True," Henry said. "I will try my best to fix this and see if we can get him back to his own dimension."

"Thank you, Henry. I will keep you updated." Carter them left the house to head to GD once more but he got a call from Joe.

"Carter you need to come to the main street. Something is happening." Joe said. Carter accelerated and turned his lights on and headed into town. He was thinking, 'what is wrong with this town?'

While at GD Alex woke with a start. He was looking at a girl about his age with blonde hair. His head hurt but first, he needed to know where he was. "It's okay. I won't hurt you."

The girl said in a soft voice. Alex didn't want to trust her with what all happened in the last few months. She handed him a bottle of water that she opened in front of him. Alex took the bottle and took a couple of sips. He was so thirsty and hungry, but he didn't want to upset his stomach. The girl just continued to watch him.

"My name is Zoey." She said to him.

"Alex." He said softly. Zoey smiled at him that was big. He felt good at that moment with her. He felt like he never did work for MI6, that he wasn't tortured the last few months and thrown in a portal that Dr. Three had built. Life was good for that moment.

"It's good to meet you, Alex," Zoey said. Alex noticed that she was sitting in a chair next to him. Then he noticed that he was in a medical room.

"Where am I?" Alex asked.

"You're in Global Dynamics infirmary room," Zoey said. "I have never seen you around town before."

"I am new to town," Alex said not quite sure where he was. Was he still in America or somewhere else? Where was Global dynamics?

"I figured but I was making sure," Zoey said. "What are you here for?"

"I don't remember. It's all a blur." Alex said. Then Allison walked over looking at her clipboard. She looked up and saw that Alex was awake and talking to Zoey. Alex didn't notice as he and Zoey were talking to one another. Allison called Carter.

"He's awake," Allison said. Carter said he would be there soon. Allison ended the call and walked over to Alex and Zoey. They both noticed Allison walking over and Zoey quickly got off the chair that she was sitting on.

"Allison." Zoey knew she had been caught. Allison gave her a look of that they will talk later. Zoey looked to Alex. "I will talk to you later Alex."

With that, she left Alex and Allison to talk. Allison sat on the edge of the bed. "My name is Allison. Your Alex, right?"

Alex nodded his head. He really didn't want to talk to Allison, he only wanted to talk to Zoey.

"I am sure you are confused about where you are right now," Allison said. Alex nodded slightly. "You're in Global Dynamics infirmary in a little town called Eureka. Dr. Weir told me that you use to work for MI6."

Alex was taken back by this. He didn't know a Dr. Weir. He also didn't know of a town called Eureka. He was not going to trust anyone here now. How did they know that he worked for MI6? Too many questions with not enough answers. He was ready to bolt, he wanted to.

"I just want to make sure that you aren't hurt anywhere else," Allison said. Alex stayed where he was and didn't move. They both heard a door and open and Carter walked in. "Excuse me Alex. I will be right back."

Allison went to talk with Carter. All Alex knew was that there was a cop there. This wasn't a good sign, most of the time when he saw a cop it meant something bad was going to happen. Alex knew that this was going to be his time to leave. It was time to go and get out of the strange place before they decided to do something else.

Carter and Allison walked to Alex. Once Carter got close enough Alex acted, he hit Carter in the face and grabbed his gun. Allison took a step back not knowing what to do. Alex pointed the gun at Allison.

"You don't fool me. I am getting out of here." Alex then grabbed a badge off of Carter and ran out the doors that he saw Carter come in. Carter grabbed his phone.

"He's coming your way, Joe."

"Who?"

"Alex. He's a kid and has my gun."

"How did that happen, Carter?"

"I don't know. Just find him." Carter was getting frustrated. He got clocked by a kid and his gun taken. Allison went to Carter to make sure that he was alright. Soon they were up running after Alex.

Alex continued to run trying to find the elevator or something when he came face to face with a woman that had a gun pointed at him. She was in a dress suit and hair in a ponytail. Alex knew that this was his next opponent, not that the first was any good. Right beside here was a man that was smiling. He wore the same uniform as that other cop.

Alex had his gun up and pointed at her ready for a firefight. He was going to win, at least he hoped. After what happened in Ciro, Alex learned how to use a gun. He was a pretty good shot. He was getting out of there no matter what happened.

Alex was about ready to shoot his gun when Carter and Alison came running into the room and saw what was about to happen. Zoey was a bit behind the two. "Put the gun down Alex," Allison said.

"I am getting out of here. I will not be tortured or used again." Alex said. Zoey heard this and her heart hurt for him.

"We want to help you, not use you," Carter said.

"They all say that. In the end, it is never true." Alex said. Joe was ready to put the kid down. They didn't want him getting out and causing havoc in the town. Zoey ran past Carter who shouted her name. She ended up in front of Alex facing Joe.

"He's just scared Joe," Zoey said. Alex loosened up so he wouldn't accidentally hit Zoey.

"Get out of the way Zoey," Joe said. Alex in panic mood thought of a way so that Zoey wouldn't get hit.

"Let him go. He just is scared. He doesn't know what is even going on. You heard him." Zoey said.

"Move away from him Zoey," Carter said.

Alex then heard someone say, "take the shot."Alex moved quickly and wrapped his body around Zoey with his back now facing Joe. A shot was heard, pain ran through Alex's shoulder. They both went down to the ground in shock.
