A/N - I realised that it had been a while since I gave you guys some Bi energy, so this chapter is based on the song 'Same Love' by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Mary Lambert. I hope you all enjoy it.

You had never really known what you were when you were young. On some days, you would have been utterly confident that you were straight; every boy you would see could be the one who would sweep you off of your feet. On others, there was no doubt in your mind that you were gay; women were just such perfectly beautiful creatures that you couldn't imagine ever falling in love with a man. You spent years thinking there was something wrong with you.

No one had ever told you that you could like both. Bisexuality was something you hadn't even heard of until you reached college, and by then you were so terrified of your own sexuality that you had attempted to hide yourself away from the world.

Whenever someone would ask you about your dating life you would shrug it off. You would tell them that you were too focused on school, and sports, and your part time job. You just didn't have time to be dating. You spent so much time lying that you began to believe it yourself.

By the time you actually figured out that you were bi you were so caught up in the rest of your life that you found yourself unable to do anything about it. You had classes, and work, and friends; you could barely keep up with everything as it was without throwing dating into the mix. And then, on top of everything else there was this nagging feeling in the pit of your stomach that told you that you weren't good enough. You weren't gay enough. You weren't straight enough. You weren't skinny enough or pretty enough. Who would want to date someone who just wasn't enough?

So you secluded yourself. You avoided the people who flirted in your classes, and the weirdos that tried to ask you out at work, and you focused on being the best you could be without anyone else getting involved.

It worked for a while. You graduated without ever going on a date, and soon enough you were working under Tony Stark at the Avengers Facility. You threw yourself into your career, and in doing so, continued to distract yourself from the loneliness that grew with each night you spent alone. It was never that you needed love; you had your family and you could never ask for better people to surround yourself with. But watching as your friends found the people they wanted to spend their lives with. Watching as they got married, and bought houses, and had kids. It was like torture.

You were sitting in your office when your phone began chiming. For a moment, you considered ignoring it. It was a Friday evening and you still had a mountain of work to get finished before heading home. But as soon as you spotted the contact information of your old college room mate shining out of the phone, you scooped it up and answered it.

"Hello?" you started softly, bringing the phone up to your ear as a smile spread on your lips as you brought your drink up to your lips.

"Y/N," she cried into the phone, the pitch a little too high for your liking as you flinched away from the speaker. Without giving you a moment to answer, your friend squealed again. "He proposed!"

Your eyes went wide and you choked on the drink that had just passed your lips. You spluttered for a second, attempting to calm yourself. "Oh my god," you started, shaking your head in disbelief. She'd known the guy for all of a year and already they were getting ready to tie the knot? "That's so-"

"It's incredible, isn't it?" she cried back, so excited that you wished you could join in with the celebrations. "We're going for drinks tomorrow night and we want you there. Tell me you'll come," she added, the pleading so clear in her voice that you wanted to sigh. There was no saying no to her when she got like this, she would whine and moan until you gave in.

"Of course," you told her softly. "I wouldn't miss it for the world." Liar.

"And you'll bring a date this time?"

"Y/F/N (Your friends name)-"

"Come on, there must be someone in that little phone book of yours that you can call," she interrupted. "It's just one night!"

You paused for a moment, glaring over at the little black phone book that went everywhere with you before releasing a sigh. "Fine. I'll figure something out."

"Oh," she cried so loudly that you physically had to wince away from the phone. "That's wonderful news. I'll send you the address. See you tomorrow."

"Bye-" The phone was already hung up before you could finish your answer. Fuck. How on earth were you supposed to find a date in under 24 hours? You released a deep sigh, your hands coming up to run over your face. Y/F/N would be pissed if you turned up stag again, and there was no way she would let you live it down this time.

"Hey," a voice came from the doorway of your office, and you glanced up to find Nat looking down at you. "You doing okay?"

You nodded slightly, biting down on your bottom lip as you considered your answer. "I'm fine."

"You sure?"

You shrugged slightly. "Does it sound bad if I say I'm this bummed out because my best friend from college just called to tell me she's engaged?"

Nat let out an airy chuckle, stepping into the room and leaning against the desk. "Are you the last not-married one?" You nodded slightly, letting out a small sigh. "Then it doesn't sound so bad."

"She's throwing herself an engagement party tomorrow," you added, shaking your head. "I'm better off not going because she's just going to spend the entire time torturing me for not bringing a date."

The snort that escaped Nat caught you off guard, and you shot her a wide eyes glance. "Sorry," she uttered, moving to sit opposite your desk. "It's just that you could walk out onto the street and yell 'I need a date to my friends engagement party' at the top of your lungs and you'd have guys bowing at your feet begging to go out with you."

You furrowed your brows at her, a small smile pulling at your lips. "Don't be ridiculous," you murmured, your cheeks heating up slightly.

"Come on, I'm being serious. Damn, if you were gay I'd have asked you out months ago."

You fell silent for a moment, biting down on your lip as you glanced at Nat. "I am gay. Well, I'm not but-" You watched as Nat's brow furrowed as she stared at you in confusion. "I'm bi."

"Oh," she uttered, her lips turning up into a small smile. "Well then, I'll be your date."

"You don't mind?"

Nat chuckled as she got to her feet. "Of course I don't mind. I've literally been crushing on you for months; ask anyone, it's been driving Tony crazy." You sat staring in her direction, unable to think of anything to say. "Unless, you don't want me to be your date?"

"No, I do. I really do," you started, quickly getting to your feet. "I just-" You paused for a moment, swallowing. "I've never had a date to anything before. I don't know what I'm supposed to do or say or-"

"Then let me lead you. I've had plenty of experience," she told you, smiling as she got to her feet and moved towards the door. "Text me your address. I'll pick you up," she added, giving you a small wink before disappearing out of the door.
