A/N - This chapter is based on the song 'Mamma Knows Best' by Jessie J, but like, barely... Reader! is the daughter of Tony, and Pepper is her step-mother. Both Peter and the reader are adults in this chapter. I hope you all enjoy it.

You took a deep shaking breath as you sat on your dad's sofa, clasping Peter's hand so tightly in your own that if he hadn't had his super-strength he would likely have been begging you to release him.

"It's going to be okay," he murmured next to you, though from the look of sheer terror on his face you were so sure he meant it. "They'll be happy," he added, his thumb rubbing gently against the side of your hand.

You nodded, unsure of your own voice as you swallowed around the lump in your throat. "Dad's going to make some dumb joke," you finally uttered, taking another deep breath to steady yourself. "And Pepper always knows what she's talking about, she'll know what I need to do now."

"Exactly," he murmured, his other hand moving to pat your knee lightly. "It'll be fine."

The door opened, and your father came in with a wide smile, leaning down to press a kiss to your cheek before collapsing onto the sofa across from you. "Didn't know you two were planning on visiting today," he started, still smiling as Pepper came to sit beside him.

"We weren't planning on it, Mr Stark-"

"You know better than to call me that by now, Peter," you father interrupted, letting out a small snort of laughter.

Pepper slapped at his knee lightly, silencing his laugh. "Leave the boy alone, can't you see they're clearly nervous about something?"

You watched as your dad's brow furrowed at the comment, his eyes running over the two of you for a moment before you cleared your throat and sat up a little straighter. "We should just get this over with," you murmured, pulling Peter's hand a little closer to you, your grip still vice-like. "I'm pregnant."

The room was silent for a moment, as your dad shifted forward slightly, elbows resting on knees as he watched you very carefully. "I'm not sure how you want me to react," he uttered quietly, nudging at your foot with his toe. "Are we happy about this?"

A small bubble of laughter fell from your lips as you nodded at him. "We are very happy," you chuckled.

"Then this is wonderful news," he told you, a smile spreading across his lips. "I'm going to be a grandfather," he added, sitting back in his seat and throwing his arm around Pepper's shoulders.

Pepper looked about fit to burst with excitement, shifting in her seat with a grin fixed on her lips. "You two must be so pleased," she started, the pure joy leaving her voice lyrical in tone.

You loosened your grip on Peter's hand slightly, letting him pull you closer into his side. "We were planning on waiting a little longer," he murmured. "But somethings happen when at their own pace, right?"

"A happy little surprise," you uttered, placing your hand on your stomach and smiling to yourself. It didn't really feel like anything had changed yet. You were two months pregnant at most, and yet you had already become protective of the person growing inside of you.

"You know," Pepper started again. "My family have this weird belief that a couples first child is usually the opposite sex of whoever the more dominant person in the relationship is," she murmured, smiling as she glanced between the two of you.

Your dad snorted slightly. "They'll be having a boy then," he uttered, and you glanced up at Peter with a small smile.

"I'm in charge," he murmured, causing you to release an inelegant burst of laughter, shaking your head.

"You wish," you teased, linking your fingers with his. "I let you think you're in charge," you added watching as he scowled playfully down at you.

*Time Skip*

God, you felt like your head was going to explode as you attempted to rock the baby to sleep on your shoulder. He had been wailing for almost an hour now, only content when you were on the move, but you were so exhausted that you'd had to give up on the walking.

"Please stop," you murmured as quietly as possible, your head thrown back against the back of the sofa. "Mamma needs to sleep," you added softly, tears brimming in your own eyes as you continued to rock him.

"You doing alright, Sweetheart?" The voice cutting through the baby's cries startled you slightly, and you glanced up to find your dad looking down at you with a small smile.

You shook your head, attempting to wipe away the tears on your cheeks before he could notice them. "He won't stop crying," you uttered. "I've tried everything I can think of, but Peter is usually better at this stuff."

"Where is he?"

The baby let out a particularly loud wail, and you winced against the sound. "He's gone to get some stuff from May's place. She had a bunch of stuff for the baby."

"Want me to take him off your hands for a bit? You can have a shower, rest your eyes for a minute?"

You hesitated for a moment, shifting to get to your feet. "Are you sure?"

"Sweetheart, I raised you on my own for four years, I'm sure I can handle him for an hour or so." You nodded, releasing a deep breath. "Now, gimme the little tyke and take a break for once," he added, reaching out and taking your son out of your arm. "Hey, little man. Let's go for a wander, huh?"

"Dad?" you called out as he reached the doorway, drawing his attention away from the squalling baby for a second. "Thanks."

He smiled at you, still bouncing the baby in his arms. "You're very welcome."
