i want to write poems like fall out boy songs
with the titles to match
meaningful in just the wrong way
and enough to make you want to fade away
and maybe someday i'll be up on stages
reading off the words that i pour onto pages
and maybe someday i'll be someone big
but there's always the chance i'll be nobody at all
and i want to write poems like fall out boy songs
beautiful and strong, with just enough existentialism
to make you question everything
and everyone, but
just the right thing to make you feel at home
and i am not the only traveler
lost on some sidequest, having to repay
someone else's debt
that they just left
and i want to write poems like fall out boy songs
that flow like the rain, a constant rhythm but
just choppy enough that each line is distinct
but maybe that's not such a good thing after all
and now i see that maybe i do write poems like fall out boy songs
in that special way that's unique to me, and in just the right way
a way that just makes you want to scream and cry and laugh and smile
and maybe that isn't such a bad thing in the end
