Code Zero had been taken to the infirmary, to check her vitals and check on her condition, after her and Hiro's first practice test at getting stronger for each of their squads for the near future, when she had lost all of her energy and passed out in Hiro's arms. Hiro stuck by her and waited until the end of her testing to go and wait until she was awake again. Part of him, blamed himself for what had happened to her. He had thought that they may have lost their synchronization with each other because his factor rose up a little bit more than hers, which then hurt her more than it did him.
"I'm sorry, Code Zero. it probably was my fault that we... I mean that you ended up getting injured while we were battling. I'm sorry." He said, looking into the see-through window of the infirmary with his right hand leaning on it.
As he watched, Code Zero was being examined in the infirmary bed, while she was still sleeping. Then after a few moments, the Adults who were examining her all began to file out of the room leaving only Dr. Franxx in their with her. Hiro quickly went to the door and Dr. Franxx let him in. Hiro ran next to her and then he hugged her softly.
"She's alright, you know." Dr. Franxx said, relieving Hiro from his stress and mind.
"Was it my fault, Sir?" Hiro said, anxiously.
Dr. Franxx looked at the boy's anxiously filled eyes. He then shook his head to Hiro.
"No, it's not your fault. She had just gone through one of her many end results that she gets while she pilots a Franxx against the Klaxours. It's a bit strange though. Normally she is fine while battling against other people in their Franxx against each other for practice, but maybe she just not used to battle against actual Klaxours." He said.
Hiro went wide-eyed. "You mean, she's gone through something that painful before!?"
"Yes, only two or three times, I believe. I'm not sure why though. Maybe she just isn't meant for all of this after all. The higher ups do believe that she has the potential and is truly strong, but maybe it's because she is still young or possibly something else that she has witnessed during the battles against the Franxx. Who knows?" He says. (Hmm, is that foreshadowing I hear? 🤔)
Hiro turns back and faces Code Zero. She is sleeping soundly. And Dr. Franxx begins walking toward the door.
"Well, I'm leaving now. I have other things to be looking at, including both of your results and her examination paper work. I'll leave her in your care, Code 016." Dr. Franxx said, leaving the room.
"Yes, Sir." Hiro said, facing Dr. Franxx. He then back at Code Zero who seemed to be dreaming.
'How much have you endured to get here, Code Zero?' Hiro thought to himself.
In Code Zero's Mind
Code Zero wakes up laying on the ground of a dark place.
'Where am I?' I thought to myself.
It was dark place, filled with darkness all around.
"Hello? Is anybody out there?" I yelled.
Once she yelled, there was a small flicker of light at part of this dark void. She turned around and then ran closer to it. Once she got close enough to the light, she saw a familiar face.
"Gin?" She said.
The light got brighter and it showed the familiar face and they smiled at her.
"Hello, Code Zero. How have you been? I've missed you." He said, smiling.
