prologue

"So, Becky..." Vince McMahon starts. "Am I correct that you're clear to compete now?"

"Yes, sir."

"That's wonderful. Welcome back to Raw. We are working out your return and will get back to you before the show starts."

I nod before getting up to leave his office. "Thank you, sir."

"Are you okay, Rebecca?"

"Yes, sir, why?"

"Well, we've known each other for a while," he swallows, "and you've never called me sir."

I cross my legs and place my overly sweaty hands over my right knee. "Sorry, sir. I-I mean Vince." I let out a nervous chuckle while shakily scratching the back of my head.

He furrows his eyebrows at me suspensefully. "How did you get your injury anyway?"

I quickly stand up and clear my throat. "Oh! Uh. Just clumsy old Becky, eh?" I restlessly chuckle again before rushing out of his office, accidentally slamming the door behind me. I close my eyes and take a deep breath as I lean myself against his office door.

"Well, well, well. Look who's back."

Oh no.
