"Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up"
-Berne Brown

The hotel manager comes out his office and sees the Crown Prince of Denmark and goes over to him.

"My daughter is the person who wishes to speak to you. Talk to her first then you and I will have a conversation. Come let's talk in my suite".

Debbie's father holds his hand out to her which she takes. She then looks at him for the first time since she had no memory of him.  She also knew she had to wait till they were alone to ask him the questions she so desperately needed the answers to.

In the suite she explained what happened at the front desk and the Hotel Manager apologises profusely. While insuring her that the receptionist will not be working there anymore.

"She will be getting a notice of termination immediately".

Debbie's father asked why the receptionist wasn't vetted better because clearly she held racist views. And thought she was better that a customer who was checking it.

"My daughter walked in with her bodyguards who are staying here. The receptionist would have seen them walk in together. Yet she still choose to assume the worse of my child".

The hotel manager looks extremely uncomfortable, "Skal jeg overlade dig til at tale mad ham alene nu(shall I leave you to talk to him alone now), Debbie ask her father in Danish.

"Vil du ikke for at hore mig ga hen ad ham?"(Do you not want to hear me go off at him?)

"Jeg er meget sulten, jeg bestiller roomservice I stedet(I'm very hungry I'll order room service instead)".

"Very well", her father replies in English. He looks at the hotel manager. "My daughter will order room service now and you and I will leave the rest of our discussion for later".

"What will you like to eat your Highness?" Ask the hotel manager.

"A double cheese burger with chips and I would like a well fried egg on top of the burger please. Can you also make sure the yoke is broken then add the normal burger toppings. Oh and I'll have ketchup on the side and a slice of hot apple pie with ice cream.

She looks at her father, "Are you having something to eat as well?"

"I'll have the same as my daughter", Debbie's father tells the manager. "We will let you know when we're ready for dessert".

The Prince look from the hotel manager as he finishes speaking to Debbie dismissing him.

When they were alone in the suite Debbie turns to her father, "I don't even know your name".

He looks outraged, "Are you telling me your mother never told you about me!"

"She said you were dead and she would get angry when I bought you up. So angry I stop asking about you I never saw my birth certificate she applied for my passport".

"Did she tell you how we met and what happened to the allowance I've been giving you every month. Why were you living in such horrible conditions?  I was told only a loaf of bread, a carton of eggs, almond milk, butter, oats, teabags and sugar were found in your flat".

"She said you met when she came to study in London and you got her pregnant and left soon after I was born. She promised you I would learn Danish. That way we would be connected by the language even though we would never meet".

"Your mother and I met in New York while I was a student at NYU. We fell in love and got married in Denmark. Back then interracial marriages were not the norm.  Especially in Scandinavian countries and my father threatened to remove me as his heir. I stood by you and your mother nothing mattered to me but my wife and daughter.  The country didn't know about my marriage back then. Your mother cheated on me and I threatened to take you away from her. She made her own threats she would cause a scandal and tell the world about us. I didn't care I wasn't ashamed of you".
