[7:20]

Link and Zelda had decided to meet at Zelda's house, since Link didn't know where Midna's house was.

He was already at her house, tossing pebbles at her window.
She opened it up and smile, just barely dodging a stone.
"I'm coming," she whisper-yelled.

She tossed down a large bag and climbed out the window.
"I'm not used to this," she told him once she got down.
"Eh." He shrugged, handing her the bag. "I do it all the time."
"Figures."

As they walked, Link realized that his clothes weren't nearly as nice as Zelda's. Midna had said to wear moderately good clothes. He didn't really have any, though.
He was wearing a gray t-shirt and dark blue jeans. Zelda was wearing a beautiful skirt and top.

"I love your clothes."
"Oh. Thanks. They aren't that nice."
"They're way better than what I'm wearing."

Zelda took a moment to examine his outfit.
"I guess you're right," she said with a smile.

After a few minutes, they got to Midna's house.

[7:27]

M

idna was standing at the door, greeting everyone.
Mipha and Urbosa were already there. Mipha had brought her little brother, Sidon, and Urbosa had brought Jordan. He didn't know they knew each other.
There was a girl he didn't recognize by the refreshments.

Once he and Zelda entered, Midna closed the door behind them.
"Looks like everyone is here."

She walked over to the unknown girl and said something before turning to everyone else.

"Okay, so, refreshments are here, the gift table is over there."
Link nodded and set his presents down on the table. They were all rather small compared to some of the others. Zelda did the same.

He then went straight to the refreshments table. There was so much to eat.
Someone tapped his shoulder as he pulled cookies onto a plate. He turned and saw that it was Mipha.

She looked amazing. She was wearing the cutest red dress, with green bows in her hair. She smiled at him, and he immediately looked away, feeling his face go red.
"Are you alright?"
He nodded, laughing nervously. Why was he acting like this? They had known each other for ages.
"Haha, yeah. I'm fine. You look pretty."
He covered his mouth, horrified. Why did he say that?

"Are you sure? Your face is all red."
Shit. He lowered his hand, doing his best to maintain an at least partly normal looking smile.

He heard music start playing, and Mipha took his plate from him and set it on a nearby table. She pulled him along to the center of the room. She wanted to dance.

So they did. They danced.
He no longer felt awkward or nervous. This felt natural. This felt right.
It wasn't one of those slow dances. This was a Christmas party made by a couple of teenagers, not a ball or anything.
It was, however, a moderately-paced song that you'd hear in a movie. Like... jingle bells. Or something of that nature.

He wasn't very knowledgeable when it came to Christmas songs, as evident by that description.

After a while, they decided to take a break. They sat together and talked while they ate cookies.

Sidon walked up to the table and climbed onto Mipha's lap.
"Hey, sis."
"Hey. Why don't you go do something else?"
Instead of answering, he looked at Link.
"Hey. Who are you?"
"That's Link."
"Oh. I thought he'd look cooler."
Link chuckled. "Last time I saw you, you were a toddler."

Mipha smiled, and Link's face went hot again. Sidon laughed and said,
"You like her, too."
"Heheh. What do you mean by that?"
"Mipha talks about you all the time. And the other day, I read her diary, and she was talking about you."

Mipha looked mortified.
"Sidon!"
Link laughed.
"It's fine. I thought it was quite obvious."
Sidon threw his arms up. "Yeah!"
"Really? Oh..." Mipha looked down, her face red.
"Sorry, I-"
"No, it's fine. It's fine."

She pushed Sidon off of her lap and walked away. She asked Midna something, who answered and pointed to a hallway. Mipha nodded and went in that direction, going into a room and shutting the door behind her.

Link glared at Sidon.
"You little-"
Sidon giggled and ran off, saying, "I never liked you much, anyway!"

Link stood up, clenching his fists.
That little shit-head ruined it. He thought they were getting somewhere.

He sighed and sat back down. Of course. Of course someone had to come and fuck it up. It was too good to be true.

Someone sat down across from him.
"Link? Is everything okay?"
He looked up. Zelda.

He shook his head.
"Things were going well with Mipha, then her little brother came and embarrassed her, and now she's hiding in the bathroom."
"Oh."

Oh? That was all? Oh?

"Um... sorry. I guess. I don't really know what to say..."

He sighed, looking back down. This was the best he'd probably get.

Zelda stood up again.
Then, she surprised him with a hug.
He stood up and hugged her back.

Maybe something would work out.
