Behind the wall

I've read so what every book we have here about how life whas before the apocalipse, heard every story. I wish i could time travel and expierence it my self but that will proberly be a fantasy. I wanna see how a real highschool looks, go to those prom things my mom talked about, go to a real mall with friends. But sadly that isn't possible when you live between big walls hiding from the outside world.... from those things our parents call "Zombie's" because they act like the monsters in those old movies from 2010. We where always warned not to go outside because one bite can turn you in one of those. About 30% of the worlds population is dead the other 50% is infected 20% is still alive, at least thats what they estemaited.

A sudden nock on the door made me lose my focus on my dairy and turn my head towords the door of our old mobile home. "Comming " i yelled closing my book and putting down my pen to walts on over to the door. When i opend the door with a slight creek looking at the person behind that door. There whas a guy around 6,3 with permanent eyebags and dark brown hair with a long green coat that whas a bit dirty. " Ready " He said to me with his tired voice. I nodded my head yelling a quick " i am going to school " to my mom who whas doing the dishes before a slamed the door behind me jumping down the little stairs going up to my mobile home. " So Danny, you look worse then normal " i said to him jokingly. he looked at me " ha ha ha" he sarcasticly laughed at me " i was up most of the night reading one of Stephen Kings books, Carrie ". I looked up at him while we where walking to the camp sight where our teacher was suppose to be. " Sound intresting " i stated when a nother person joined our group. She has ear lenght black hair with bangs. She is waving at at us " hey, Everly whats up " i asked " Nothing mutch, but look what i found !" she said exitedly slightly opening her closed hands to show a little frog she is holding. " O my god, where didt you find it?! " i said while looking at the little thing that looked almost defensless, so small. " Him " i whas corrected, Everly knew a lot about frogs she has a few books about them and once in a while one jumps by here. " I think i am going to name him Frank " she stated while looking at the frog. " Thats a nice name who's it for? " a voice said behind me, i looked around to see where the familiar voice came from there was a girl about 5,0 with hair nearly as black as her clothing. Even though she dresses pretty dark her heart is pure gold. " The frog Everly found " Danny said to awnser her question. " Nice " she said while comming to stand next to us to waiting for the teacher that hadn't arrived yet. While the others were having a conversation about who the hell knows what because i wasn't paying attation anymore. There where a few other kids our age amongst us maby 5 I didn't realy click with them that well 3 boys and 2 other girl who i realy didn't care for if i whas honest. as the other kids started to gather up with us waiting to learn basic human servival skills and some other unnecessery stuff, our teacher finnaly showed up being a bit later as usual with some papers. " alright kids go sit dow " she instructed us. We all sat down in the grass while the teacher put her papers on this old old art holder thing. i don't know the name of it all i know it's made from wood and it whas used to hold painting canveses to paint, at least that's what the teacher told me, it didn't realy intrest me. I looked at the page she showed us and she started talk about the basic appearance of a Zombie so we could identify them easier. She told us they have bloodshot eyes with white pupuls and have foam comming out of there mouths and the only noises they will be able to make are moaning and groaning noises. Those are there most distinct featurs. The infection will be transfured true bites and there as fast as the avrage human so thats why we do running exorcises everyday. She tells us a bit more about the easiest way to kill them for example a bat to the head or you have a gun on hand shoot them in the head with it, even though those are pretty rare these day to have. We get these lessons just incase even though we realy don't have any expirence the only one who have are paul and raymon our hunters. They go out in the day light looking for un infected animals we could eat, extra drink water or just general things we could use like wapons. As the teacher whas talking my mind kept wondering about the outside world it seemd to interesting the thought of it felt free. Just imagine a whole world with so many things to explore and maby there are more people to meet. Just the thought of it made me want to become a hunter but it takes hard training and only 2-3 people get the position because we needed people in the farm or fish in the lakes between these wooden large walls and because it whas the most dangours position you had to be fast stealthy and focused. Most hunters die on the job, 2 out of the 28 hunters we hadn't died on the job. one of them died of an illness he was 45 and the other died of old age he was 60. Before the apocalypse about 45 years ago dying of old age ment you were between the age's of 80-90 or even older but now it isn't possible or at least comming because of the way we have to live now. i hope one day we can go back to that time but that would mean we would have to kill each and every zombie on this planet and there are a lot of zombie's. So that won't happen for a long time, the thought of that just made me sigh out loud as i put my hand onder my chin as my legs sat in a cross position and that loud sigh caught the attation of our teacher. " Are my lessons that borning nixy? " she questioned me crossing her arms. I quickly shot my eyes her direction shaking my head " i.. umm no miss " i quickly spoke trying to think of what she whas just telling us but totaly not remembering a thing. " Well you'll proberly won't need this information soon anyways " she said with a light sigh while danny next to me nudged me smilling at me with that one smile of 'haha stupid'. I glared at him and huffed out sticking out my middle finger at him as he gave me the ' i'm so hurt expression' and satisfied i went back to my imagination for the rest of class, class went by quicker then i though. After class Rainn Everly Danny and me met up at our hang out. To just hang out, as it whas friday and we did this every friday. Behind one of the mobile home's whas our secret hangout with some wooden planks between the wooden wall and the mobile home that was abandond as the owner of it died a few years ago. Soon there will be a new owner though but for now our hang out is safe of adults. I sat down on one of the pillows purple tintented pillows that whas laying on the ground. Even though the pillows are pretty old and you can see the stuffing of the pillows spilling out of some of the tairs in the pillow, i don't care there still kind of comfy and useble inough for us. there whas a little candle in the middle giving light to the little hang out we made with old dirty curtens as doors and a old blanket used as flooring with some realy old books scarterd around we read from time to time and sometime even to eachother. We hang out here most of the time sometimes in groups of two sometimes alone, but friday we always come together after school gossiping telling about things we learned about the past and if where lucky Rainn will play on the gituar. Rainn learned it from her mother who used to live in the old world. They are the only ones to know how to play in the so called village as our parents call this group of people who live togheter. Danny, Rainn and Everly also sat down Evely was still holding the frog she named Frank. " Aren't you going to set him free " Rainn questioned Everly "but ... look at him he's so cute how can i set him free, maby i'll keep him? " she said looking at him smiling. I looked at her with a empethetic smile " but it's a wild animal and you proberly don't have the equipment to take care of it " i stated carefully. Everly looked at me knowing i was right but she already got attached to Frank. She smiled sadly at Frank giving him one last pat before standing up slowly walking out of the hang out. As we coudn't see her after she walked out of the hang out because of the certuins blocking the sight of the outside world. She put the frog down on the ground letting it hop away making little noises as Frank hopped. Everly sadly wayved at him before slowly comming back into the hang out and sitting down on the old pillow she was sitting down on before looking down. Rainn rubbed her back trying to comfort Everly. Everly looked up with a appreciative smile at Rainn. " You did the right thing Everly " Danny commented on one of his best friends good deeds. Danny looked at our favrouit book 'IT' from Stephen king. He picked it up and wayved a bit around " why don't we read IT? that will get everly's mood up again" he suggested. Everly nodded excidedly laying down with her arms behind her head. Danny opened the book and started reading were we left off. I want to lay againt Rainn, Rainn also leaning a bit against me. We all started listining closely to Danny. I felt so at ease with my friends we all were very comfterble around eachother and very very close to point that even after the biggest of figthts where always resolved. Are love for IT also came from that we closely related to the charcters. We all wanted to see beyond the wall we lived in unlike the rest of the village. We would love to go on the adventure The losers club went fighting evil and bikeing around. As sometime of reading went by i got an idea and shot up from my spot against Rainn getting everyone's attation emidetly. " Is there a problem " Everly questioned looking at me with a raised brow. "What if we just went past the wall, i mean who exactly is stopping us! " i said quite loud. "Bassicaly everyone " Danny sarcasticly commented. "NO i mean it's late and most of our parents expect us to just sleep here, and there are only three night guards on duty we can easly sneak past them! " i said " and i don't mean that we exualy stay the whole night but just for an houre. Aren't you all curius to whats outside " i stated with it. Everly looked exited " maby that's not so bad idea " she sayed. Danny looked quite unsure " but woudn't that be realy unsafe what if one of us got hurt or worse! " he argued back at me. " What if we take some bats, maby some food? " Rainn argued back at Danny. " I mean i am all for going beyond the wall but i don't want to be in a situation were i will see you guys die" Danny argued back again. A sillence fell amongst us at the idea of that " but we won't we'll take a quick look and go back inside as soon as possible again " i said breaking the sillence. " Fine Danny said sighing in defed as me and everly high fived eachother saying " let's go!". "But we should get some extra stuff to just be sure " Danny said picking up the IT book and standing up on his feet walking past the curtuins. I looked around as the rest started to make there way back to there mobile home's to get some stuff and i did the same. I soon sneakly entered my home quickly listening if my mom whas asleep. I heard a light snore indecating she whas asleep, i tip toed to the emergency back pack with food that woudn't rot soon a sleeping back some matches rope and water. I graped it swiftly together with a jacked and a bat. I tip toed back to the door as there was a slight creek under my feet, i stoped dead in my tracks as i heard my mom turn around in her bed and starting to snore again. I breathed a sigh of relieve as my heart was quickly beating i could hear my heart beat in my ears. I sneakely but quickly made my way outside putting on my hood sneaking behind the mobile home's back to our hide out. I quickly got back inside seeing Everly already sitting inside waiting for us anxiously playing with her fingers. She looked at me with a exited smile as we also saw Rainn and Danny slowly comming in, also with there emergency backpacks. As we all made are ways uit side there whas a unexpected figure whitch made me and Danny jump a little. " Dex " Rainn stated his name while he had a evil smirk on his face that no one here liked. "So you guys want to go beyonde this wall you know thats not aloud right" he stated with a hint of evil in his tone. Danny slaped his forehead " what doe you want to keep quiet " he sighed. " To come with you guys " we were all kind of in shock not realy expecting that kind of request. " Are going to let him come with " danny questioned looking back at us. "Do we have a choice " Everly said knowing we pretty mutch didn't. "Fine " i sigh while grapping the rope from my backpack tying a noose at the end and swinging it around and around. I eventualy trow it up missing while it falls down it lands on Danny's head i mouth a quick 'sorry ' to him as the rest chucked a bit. I try again and miss for a second time catching the end in my hand this time. " Give me this you're just to small to get it " Danny teased me and grabed the rope and trowing it also missing the first time while i laugh at him. He glared at me and tryed again succeeding this time. Danny looks at me and tells me a quick "ha! tiny" while i squint my eyes at him angerly. We all climed up the rope first Danny after him came Everly then me behind me came Rainn and as last Dex. We all jumped down and admiring the beautifull night sky and the trees alls scatered around some where tall others where smaller. We where all in awe of the outside world we finnaly felt free.
