Caroline's POV
I'm in the middle of the forest. It's so dark, I can't see anything beside of a dim light of a moon up in the sky. I'm all alone and scared. But I can hear the noises, the noises that walkers make. They can smell me and they want to get me. I don't know where they are, but I hear them. They are close. I move blindly through the forest, hoping I won't get surrounded by any of them. I don't even have anything to protect myself. I'm a lost cause. A walking dinner for them. It's so quiet besides the noises they make until I hear similar voice. At first I'm confused and I don't realize what I just heard, but then I hear it again. – Mommy!
I turn abruptly into the direction the voice is coming from. Sophie, my baby. I don't even hesitate for a second, I begin to run in that direction. I bump into a few trees on my way, but the pain doesn't stop me. – Mommy, help me!- I try to go faster, but it's so dark, there are branches everywhere. – I'm coming, baby! Hold on! – I shout back and I realize that I just drew attention of walkers on me. But that's good, at least they are not coming for Sophie. I see a small light in front of me, I don't stop even for a second, but at one point my leg gets stuck between the branches and I fall on the ground hitting my head on one of the stones. My vision gets blurry and my head hurts so bad. But somehow I get up from the ground and slowly move forward trying to notice Sophie near the light source. I do see her. She's so scared... I want to hug her and tell her it's all gonna be alright, but I know deep inside of me that it won't. She's surrounded by walkers. I start to yell really loud, I want to get their attention. Anything to get them away from her, but it's not working. And I can't get to her on time. I still run for her, even though I know it's pointless. I can't save her. But what is my life without her? At least we can be together, in the end. She starts to scream when the walkers rip her apart. I drop to my knees crying and screaming with her. – NO! – I keep screaming into the void like it's gonna change anything. I don't see her anymore, she is completely overrun with walkers. I'm in complete shock, I can't snap out of it. I look at my shaking hands and then I notice a silhouette in the corner. He comes closer and that's when I see that it's Luke. But it's so surreal, he wouldn't be so heartless about his daughter dying in front of him. I know he wouldn't be. He crouches next to me and takes my face into his hands. – Wake up, Care. – I look at him completely confused. – What?- It's the last thing that I say before waking up from that horrible dream.
(....)
It's been a week since I met Rick. We were supposed to move on to search my family right away, but my body state after the accident had other plans. I hated myself for this decision but I knew it had to be done. I wouldn't last out there in such condition, I had to let my ribs heal at least up to some point where I could normally move around. And it's that point. I move around the bedroom that Rick let me stay in. I open the closet and look over his wife's clothes. I choose a warm sweater and put it over my head. It's the day, I can't wait any longer, especially after that nightmare I had. I need to find them.
