Living with the boys was... interesting. To say the least.
I was trying to get a feel for all four of their personalities separately, but also what they were like together.
Niall's easy. He's a giant goofball with a heart of gold. I've watched him dote on his famous friends for the past week making sure they had plenty to eat, enough blankets in their guest rooms, and space to park their wildly expensive cars in his driveway. Just like the Niall I've known for the past few years would have done.
Louis is also a goofball. He and Liam cannot be in the same room for more than 30 minutes without having some sort of friend-quarrel commence. But Louis has proven easy to please. He just needs a television and a cold beer and he feels like he can conquer the world.
Liam seems to have an obsession with playing video games. If I can't find him in the kitchen, he's always in Niall's game room shoving popcorn down his throat while yelling profanities at the TV screen as if it had personally offended him. He's quite the baker, as well. There's no doubt I've gained a few pounds with the rapid desserts Liam was whipping up each night.
Harry, on the other hand, was so difficult to figure out. Sure, he was around quite a bit. He often watched the television with Louis or ran errands with Niall, but he didn't say much. His personality was the complete opposite of what I had anticipated, to be perfectly honest. I expected a cocky, self-assured pretty boy who was difficult to please. But besides the sideways smirks he would send me every so often, he has given me no reason to believe that he is nothing other than a genuine, kind person.
Then, our week of peace ended quicker than I was hoping.
The following Saturday, I fulfilled my first duty of dragging the boys to downtown LA for a 'housekeeping' meeting about their upcoming tour and press conferences. As soon as we entered the realm of the conference room booked for 'One Direction', I was immediately handed four very large binders, a place to sit down at the wide table and a notepad to take notes.
I was quickly introduced to the crew of behind-the-scenes managerial staff which I, assumedly, was now a part of. There was Jason, who would be in charge of all things travel. Rudy was to take care of all sets, sound, lighting, and equipment for the entirety of the tour. Monica is the highly opinionated costume director who, after seeing the hugs the boys gave her, worked with all four in the past. Michael introduced himself as the tour choreographer with a simple, "Well, if you can consider me a choreographer even though everything I teach these monkeys goes out the window as soon as they get on stage." That earned a chuckle from me.
As if the day couldn't get any more overwhelming, I was introduced as "the girl in charge of all four boys." Casual... real casual.
"Your job entails the following," Jason began. "Make sure you memorize the boys' schedules. You need to make sure that they are fed when they need to be, at sound checks, costume meetings, press conferences, public appearances, fittings, award shows, need I go on?" he asked with his eyebrows raised.
I must have looked like a deer in head lights as Louis piped in, "C'mon now Jason you're sounding a little extreme here."
Jason ignored Louis' comment as he continued. "Now, in addition to ensuring that the boys are well-taken care of, you must also look the part of being a One Direction manager. You'll need to constantly look camera ready, be trained on how to speak with press, as well as take some social etiquette classes. It is essential that if you are representing the band, you do so in a positive manner."
I couldn't even think. Social etiquette? Award shows? I think the most expensive pair of shoes in my closet were $35!
Jason observed my look of panic, but tilted his lips up into a smile as he pulled out a giant packet of slick, white paper. "Fantastic! Now, if you will just initial in these 12 placed and sign on these three lines, you'll be joining the management family!"
