Forbidden Magic - Setosolace

Chapter 8

I wait a few seconds before feeling a surge go through my body and collapsing.

"Holy- what was that...?" I ask, looking at the cat as I move to get up. I rub my face with my hands before realizing that they were glowing. "Gah! What the...!" I say as I look at my hands and then looking up. I look in the mirror that was in my room and gasp. My eyes were completely purple now and my hair even had some purple highlights. This can't be happening. 

"That's your awakened body. The spell just released all the magic that was being held back." I hear a voice say. I turn around and look around my room to only see the cat in it. I stare at the cat for a second before shaking my head. Cats couldn't talk, could they? "Ah, um. I should introduce myself. I am your familiar. When you went into the forest, your magic called out and manifested into me. And yes, I can talk, but only to you since I am your magic and all." The cat says softly, looking at me with soft eyes. 

"Uh... No way. Okay, how you came to be makes sense I guess, but why do I look like this?! I can't go out in public like this; it's basically screaming "Oh hey, look at me. I'm a sorcerer"!" I say, looking at the cat in a panic. This was not good, not good at all. I go up to the mirror and look at myself more before turning and picking up the spell book. Well, good thing was that I could read all the runic words easily now. Bad thing was I had no idea how to turn myself back.

"Oh. That book won't work for you anymore. Only reason it did before was because you weren't a full-fledged sorcerer. Now that you are though, you need your own spell book. Considering you were using it and carrying it around though means that you probably don't have your own spell book." The cat says before thinking a bit and standing up to go stand next to me. "I have a solution. You need to go back to the forest." He finishes, looking up at me. I just look at it with wide eyes.

"You are kidding, right? I can't just walk back out there..." I say before realizing what he wanted me to do. "Oh... I have to be all sneaky... Great..." I say with a sigh before putting on my hood. I put the old spell book back into my bag before putting it around me. I look at my door before shaking my head and going over to the window. This cat said I was a full sorcerer now since I read that incantation. That should mean I can do some things without the spell book. The cat comes over and jumps on the windowsill before becoming transparent and merging with my aura. 

This was odd, but it felt nice to have him. I open the window and move to sit on the windowsill. I look at the ground and take a deep breath before putting out my hand and creating a floor of magical aura beneath me. I carefully step onto the floor before lowering myself down to the ground. I couldn't believe that worked. Once on the ground, I move towards the slave quarters. I needed to pass that before I could sneak on the edge of town. I walk over to the set of buildings I knew very well, staying as quiet as I could. I head behind the buildings, seeing the other slaves in the middle all talking about their days. Most of them were talking about how pissed off they were with me. Wait... how did I hear that? Oh yeah, the cat. I use their anger at me as a distraction, easily bypassing the houses I had been so worried about. 

After a little more sneaking around, I arrive at the place Brice and I had entered the forest. I get an overwhelming urge to go inside, and I would blame it on the cat, but it was coming one hundred percent from me. I could feel it. I enter the forest, just as calm as I had been when I was here with Brice. 

"Okay! Now we need to find out what your element is. Before you ask, we need to find out if you are an earth, fire, water, or wind sorcerer. Of course all sorcerers can use all of the elements, but depending on which you are, you'll be better at more spells than others." The cat says to me. It was weird because it was like the words were already there, not like they had came from another person.
