Hours and hours went by, us enjoying our time together. It was wonderful. I never thought I would be able to relax why this close to him again. It was so nice...

SNAP!

"Uh... Seto? Tell me you didn't hear anything." Brice says quietly. We were now frozen with slight fear. We knew this forest was dangerous according to his dad, but we didn't know who or what was in it. I look at him, my soft brown eyes looking at him with concern.

"I wish I could..." I say, my voice quieter than what his was. He motions for me to stay still as he gets himself up. I listen to what he says as he starts to look around for ways to get out quickly. It was about time we left anyway, so this was perfect timing. He finds a path that he deemed safe and motions for me to get up and follow him, which I do. For some odd reason though, I didn't feel like I was in danger too much. It was a familiar, but old feeling... like this had happened a long time ago. I shake my head and slowly follow after Brice, not wanting to lose him since I wasn't sure if I would be able to leave this place on my own.

Wouldn't it be crazy if I left him willingly though? Yeah, something drew my eye and distracted me from him. I felt like something was calling me. I turn my head to look deeper into the forest, seeing little specks of light hidden in the darkness. I was going to turn around to follow my master once again, but when a green leaf blows past you with no wind, you become curious. I followed the leaf into the darkness, it leading me to a clearing. Funny thing though, the leaf was gone and in its place was a little cat, looking at me with brown eyes similar to my own. I tilt my head as I look at it, but it mimics my movements by tilting its head as well. I walk over to it, confusion clear in my eyes. It walks towards me, moving to rub against my legs.

This was odd. This wasn't normal for a stray cat, right? It was acting like it knew me.

"Seto!!! Seto!" Brice was calling in the distance. I turn around to glance at what direction he was coming from. I make a note of it and then turn back to the cat, but the cat was gone. In its place was a small purple flower. I lean down and pick it up, still confused about this whole ordeal. Again, I shake my head and sigh before moving to go find Brice.

"Brice!!" I yell back, myself going in the direction I heard him and I could only assume he was going in the direction of my voice. It takes a little bit, but we do find each other. He comes up to me and grabs my arms, checking me over before looking at me.

"Where did you go? I was worried!" He  says, clearly still worried about me. I look at him and smile shyly.

"Sorry... Didn't mean to. I lost you and didn't know where you went." I say softly, him sighing and smiling at me.

"Well, let's get out of here then. Shall we?" He says softly, grabbing my hand before leading me out of the forest, it only taking ten minutes for us to get back to the town. Once we get back to the town, we look at each other and laugh a bit. I go to pull my hand away, but Brice keeps a hold of it, giving me a smile as we start to walk back to the mansion. People glance at us, giving me looks for us holding hands. They wouldn't dare give Brice any looks though since he was going to be the next boss. I just sigh and keep close to Brice, trying to forget about how this may look. In my free hand I kept the flower, wanting it close to me as well. Maybe it meant something? Or maybe I was being delusional... Who knows? Maybe sorcerers are often delusional because of how much magic is contained in their bodies. Of course, I could never mention these things to Brice, even if he could tell something was up. I couldn't afford to have him look at me any differently. That would be tragic.

We make it back to the court of the huge building. A few of the other slaves were glancing at us, since we weren't really supposed to be so close and weren't supposed to be off the mansion grounds. Well, It was mainly me who wasn't allowed to be off the grounds. Brice keeps a hold of my hand and leads me back into the building towards the hall that our rooms were in. After we get to the hall, he brings me to his office and closes the door before bursting into laughter.

"Oh wow! That was exciting!" He says, looking at me with a smile. I look at him with slightly wide eyes when he says that. I thought it was good in the beginning, but it was a little terrifying once we heard the noises in the woods. Not to mention the weird experience with the cat and the leaf that was now in the pocket of my hoodie.

"I guess it was. But weren't you scared at all?" I ask, this being out of character for me to not just agree with him. Usually I kept my opinions to myself since that was just how I was raised to act here, but this one bugged me a little bit. Brice looks at me and tilts his head.

"Are you talking about the noises? I mean, yeah. It was a little spooky at first, but thinking about it now there are a lot of woodland creatures. Maybe it was a deer or a squirrel or something like that." He says, my self sighing softly. He smiles softly at me. "Look, I know my father likes to make it sound like there are still Sorcerers out there, but we haven't had a trace of them since you and I were kids." He adds, trying his best to help me relax. I look at him with a raised eyebrow.

"You mean when you found me? After the big break-in?" I ask, knowing that was probably what he was talking about. He nods and smiles.

"Good things happened that day. We found you, the sorcerer thieves disappeared, and peace was restored in the town. I'm sure we had nothing to worry about in that forest." He says happily, my skin crawling when he says that. It was odd hearing about the people that are most likely my family in that light, but they did leave me, so maybe they really were bad. I look at him and smile slightly, deciding to take his optimism for now. "Well, it has been a long day. Why don't we both call it a day. You can have the rest of the day off." He says after seeing my smile.

"As if it was much work." I say jokingly after nodding and moving to leave. Brice laughs and waves me away, myself chuckling before I leave his office and head to my room. As much as I wanted to just go to my room and sleep so I could continue my week, I needed to find out why a purple flower showed up in place of the cat when it disappeared. That couldn't just be a coincidence. First off, that was just way too weird. Second off, we don't have any kind of plants that were purple at this time of year either. So there was no way it could just be a coincidence.

I reach my room and take the flower out of my pocket, setting it down on my bedside table before I turn towards my closet. I tilt my head before sighing. I close my eyes and carefully move my hands, allowing myself to practice my magic by simply changing my clothes by only using magic. I use my magic to change into a grey and red t-shirt and sigh. I set down my bag before taking my cloak and spell book out of it. I look at the spell book as I move to put my cloak on. I tilt my head an pick it up, deciding to revitalize my memory on my magic.

I turn to my bed and nearly jump in fright. There on my bed was the black cat with brown eyes. I quickly look at the bedside table and notice that the flower was gone. I look at the cat with wide eyes before slowly reaching out to pet him.

"H-Hey little guy... What are you doing here? Were you that flower?" I ask him, him purring happily in response. I tilt my head and sigh softly. "Well... I'm guessing you are a magic creature. You can't stay here if that is the case, it's too risky..." I explain. I genuinely did not want the little guy to be locked up or killed. He just looks at me with playful eyes. He jumps off the bed and rubs up against my feet before sitting down and looking at the spell book in my hand. I tilt my head, setting the book down in front of the creature.

I turn around to go freshen up in the bathroom. After I had did that, I come back out into the bedroom to see the cat had opened my book and was flipping the pages sloppily with his paw. I tilt my head as I sit down next to the cat, him looking at me before placing his paw on a page. I look at the page and sigh softly.

"I can't read that, kitty... It's all runic. I've only been able to use the ones that show pictures or were translated to English." I say softly. The cat looks at me then meows, the runic letters slowly turning into their English counterparts. My eyes widen slightly. "Wow..." I say softly, looking at the new spell that had just been revealed to me. The only bad part was that it was only the spell that had been translated, not the description of what it did, which could be great or disastrous. I look at the cat and he looks at me before looking back at the page and pawing at it. I take a deep breath.

"Here we go then. I hope you are having me do something good." I say quietly before slowly reading off the page.
