"What's taking them so long...?" I whispered to myself in a hushed voice.

I'd just been up for hours... with a slow, hesitant glance at the time on my computer I let out a loud groan. 2:23am. Of course they weren't home. I'm waiting for my roommates, Amy and Gabby. Both of them clowns that stay out late with random guys... sometimes bringing someone to meet me. Creepy and annoying.

Since we moved in together, the girls have been trying to get me to go out with them to meet people. I refuse every time... I'm not what most would consider much of a people-person. In fact, I despise all human life other then my adoptive parents and brother Mark, and Amy and Gabby.

Bad thing? I know...  oh well.

The sound of the lock from the other side of the silent house made me grin and I jumped to my feet and ran downstairs excited. I became even more excited when Amy came in with her arms clutching to my older brother Mark's.

"Well isn't this a surprise." I said, a playful a teasing sarcasm aimed for the new couple.

"Shut it you!" Mark said before laughing a bit. "But yes... Amy and I are together now Y/N."

"Speaking of getting together... I am going to Brighton." Gabby said softly, blushing as she looked down at her phone.

"Wait why?!" I asked in shock, my eyes widening. "Without Amy and I?"

"Uh... yes... I'm sorry Y/N, but I wanna go be with Sean." Gabby explained, her gentle accent making it hard to be angry with her.

"But aren't we supposed to stick together here?" I asked.

"Amy's going with Mark too..." Gabby mumbled, hoping to not be the only reason for my misery.

"You too Amy?" I asked, my voice breaking as tears pricked at my eyes. "Both of you are gonna leave me alone in this huge ass house?"

"Well... no... Not alone." Mark said gently. "A young friend of mine needs a place to stay and Gabby and Amy bother were really quick to offer their rooms to him."

I suddenly was kinda pissed. "Him? What did I tell you two?!" I screamed out my face red with anger.

Amy andGabby pulled their heads back and blushed a little in embarrassment. "Listen Y/N...we really just didn't want you to be here alone." Mark jumped in, protecting the other two girls.

"But-"

"No butts!" Mark yelled as he walked over to me. He placed his hands firmly on my shoulders and looked me dead in the eyes. "Y/N. Give it a chance... we aren't telling you to take the kid on a date, we just want you to at least be friendly, okay?"

"But-" I decided not to finish what I wanted to say because he  gave me an angry look... I gave a sigh and rubbed my forehead. "Fine..." I mumbled.

Amy and Gabby squealed happily and then shot upstairs towards their rooms... to pack their shit to leave.

"What's the kid's name?" I asked in a hissy voice.

"Ethan Nestor. Great guy. You'll like him if you let yourself get to know him." Mark said.

"I'll try I guess..." I mumbled, crossing my arms
