Inaction, how trivial it may seem at times, might haunt us for a lifetime.
(Originally composed for October is Spooky, 2019 contest by WattpadPoetry, however procrastination and workload got best of me as I failed to submit before deadline.)
A dark, odious, megalithic moth;
Its frame covered in speckled bands,
Like a monstrous child of ancient times
Caught my eye with its velvety wingspan.
Intoxicated and bewitched by the sight,
I forgot to open the window beside;
It started dancing to the tunes of last ballad
Elfin adventure on those damp, brick walls,
In meandering pattern for its strength dwindle;
Wings fluttering forever for momentary solace,
Eventually it had to rest; eerily it got enmeshed
In those dark, viscid, molten wax of the candle.
Sobered up in morning from my liquored haze,
Found the moth was gone! Yet its shadow stayed.
Now I'd like to take
A few more of your moments
