It was the short honk from one of the cars behind us that made Daryl stop. We waited for a moment in confusion, but before anyone could get up to go and see what the problem was, there was a knock at the door to the RV.

Merle opened it up, since he was the closest to it, and in stumbled Rick. He was sweating, and looked a tad bit more unhinged than usual, but his eyes looked clear of fear for the first time since I had seen him at that line up.

"Rick?" Lori gasped out, struggling to get to her feet, and then Rick had pulled her into his arms, and both of them were crying.

"I'm an idiot. I'm sorry." I could hear him say, but most everything else was muffled by the sounds of her tears.

"You're coming?" I asked, just to make sure, and when he pulled away to look at me I didn't even have to hear the answer.

"Yeah. I'm coming. Let's go." He said, moving his gaze to Daryl. I mimicked him, and turned to meet Daryl's eyes. He looked almost as happy as I felt, and as soon as he threw the RV in drive, I grabbed his hand.

"This will work." I whispered to him, trying not to draw the attention of our family behind us. He nodded over at me as we drove through the gate that had been left open for our departure.

"It has to now love." He said softly, rubbing his worn thumb against the top of my hand. It was a feeling I had missed. I had been able to remember the way he made me feel, and how much I loved him, but it was the little things that I had forgotten. The soft kisses in the morning, the way his hand felt in mine, the way it felt to sleep in his arms, the way his name felt in my mouth.

Those were the things that I had missed the most, and I knew those things would be the first things that I would miss, and the first things I would forget if I ever lost him again.

"Mommy?" I heard from behind me, and when I turned, Dale was standing on the single step that led down to the 'cockpit' where we were sitting. He had been playing with Carl and Elizabeth, but I guess he was done with that now.

"Yes darling?" I asked, opening my arms up to him, and he moved into the slowly, and let me pull him up into my lap so that he was resting sideways against me, with his back to the window so that he could see his Dad.

"Where are we going?" He said simply, and I shrugged, and leaned forward a little bit to pull the map off of the dashboard.

"I don't know baby. Why don't you pick? Here. Close your eyes, and put your finger down, and whatever you pick, that's where we'll go." I said simply, holding the map open so that the entire country was showing, and I used my hand to cover up Virginia so that he couldn't pick where we already were.

He nodded, and closed his eyes. It took him a moment, but when his hand jerked out, it landed smack dab in the middle of a state.

"Huh. I guess we're going to Iowa." I said with a small smile, looking between my son, and my husband. Daryl shot a grin at Dale and winked at him before turning back to the road.

"Nice choice son. Ri, what do I need to get on to get there?" He asked with a little laugh, and I shrugged again, flipping the pages to get the map to show something smaller and more detailed.

"We'll have to go through D.C. unless you want to go west a little and take the 495." I said, pointing out the two different routes and he nodded.

"Let's go through D.C. Deanna said most people got out anyway. Let's give Dale something to remember." Daryl said, glancing at Dale and I with a smile. I nodded, and turned to look at everyone behind us.

"Everyone like Iowa?"
