"Mommy, what's a soulmate?"

"Hmm...well one day you will find your soulmate. And when you do everything will feel right in the world. Your soulmate is the one person you can always rely on, the one person who you can always trust. A person that understands and loves you for you.  A soulmate is the person that makes you the happiest." Your mother said with a small smile on her face as she looked down at you.

You were recounting the time when you were six and had asked your mother that. You were now about to turn 18 in a few minutes, then you would be able to figure out who your soulmate was.

Everyones soulmate mark is different, some people can read each other's minds, some can see their soulmate in their dreams, others don't see color until they see them, it all really just depends.

You lay in bed and you look up at the ceiling.
Occasionally stealing glances at the clock on your bedside table.

Six minutes until you have your soulmate mark.

The minutes feel like hours and you can't take it anymore.

You find yourself pacing as you think about what your mark will be.

Then you plopped onto your bed and stared intently at your clock.

You quickly sit up in bed, looking at your body for marks, just to see if you have a tattoo or something, that isn't uncommon.

You pull off your long shirt/ nightgown that stops above your knees,  and look into your full body mirror that was hanging on the back of your door.

On your thigh is a beautiful tattoo.

It's a rose, in full bloom that is the deepest shade of red you have ever seen. The outline of the petals and leaves were in gold, making the red contrast with it. However the stem was black as ink. Closely examining it, you see that on the petals there are very intricate designs, swirls and box's, mandelas and shapes all in gold ink.

You squeal and start jumping around, your hand over your mouth as you almost scream.

Your phone starts ringing causing you to stop your squeal session for the time being.

Only to see it's your best friend calling to wish you a happy birthday.

It's been a few months since you had gotten your tattoo.

You were currently in Seoul, South Korea studying. You were fluent in Korean, so was your bestfriend, his/her reason being they were part Korean, yours being that your soulmate was.

you had found this out the morning after you had gotten your tattoo, you had logged onto Duolingo, mainly because the owl scared the shit out of you, and also because you weren't about to lose your 76 day streak. So you had logged on only to find out that you understood all of it.

Your bestfriend had come with you because there was no way in hell you were about to go to a foreign country without your partner in crime. Plus s(he's)  always wanted to go.
