^I couldn't think a good title.😅

Rich's POV
I sat down on the sofa, trying to figure out math, when Jake came in.
"Hey, can we talk for a second?" He sounded serious. Shit.
"What'th up?" I tried saying nonchalantly.
With no prevail. Obviously.

He sighed and plopped down next to me.
"So the other day, when I freaked out about you and Y/N..."
There was a long pause, and I was dying as the seconds ticked by.
"I'm sorry." He let out a big breath.
Wait... what?

"I really freaked out on you two. I shouldn't have done that. I mean, we both know, it's not like you even like her like that and I just don't like the idea of Y/N dating anyone. I acted too much like a dad. I'm sorry."
He stared at me, with pleading eyes.
The words he said were comforting, but still hurt.
Of course I liked her like that.
Probably more than he was even thinking.

"It's alright bro. I know you meant well."
He smiled big, and I knew this was the response he was looking for.
"Great bro. I knew you'd understand. God imagine how weird that would be. My best friend and my sister." He laughed, slapping my back and walking out.

I was left with that thought, Jake thinking the two of us together hilarious.
If only he knew.
If I could tell him.

*time skip*

Y/N's POV
I was sitting down at our lunch table, chatting with Michael.
"I think cherry is the best." He shrugged, sipping his drink.
"Obviously. I don't get those Coke slushie drinkers." I rolled my eyes and we both erupted into a fit of chuckles and giggles.

Rich came and plopped down next to me.
"Thup. Ugh." He groaned.
I thought his lisp was adorable, but he hated it.
"Damn lithp."
He occasionally had difficulty talking without it, but he took speech classes.
They sorta helped. That's why he got really lispy when he got nervous.

"Stop, I love your lisp." I smiled putting my hand over his. His face got slightly red and he squeezed my hand, but then cleared his throat and dropped it.
I was confused, but then remembered Michael was sitting right there. He was staring at us suspiciously.

"Hm. So Y/N, I was wondering if you wanted to head to the mall or something with me?" He said, sipping his drink.
"Um, like right now?" It was kinda like... the middle of school.

"No, like later. Like, a date." He said nonchalantly.
I nearly choked on my drink, and Rich tensed up next to me.
"I-um, I'm sorry I can't." I stuttered.

Michael looked like he was dealt a good hand.
"Why not?" He reached across the table and held my hand. My face got red.
"I-I..." How was I supposed to cover this up?
"Come on, one date?" He spurred.
"N-no."
"Please?"

Rich slammed his hands on the table and stood up.
"Thee thaid no!" He yelled, looking furious.
Michael smirked.
"Because...?"
I stared at him, ripping my hands away.
"You know?" I glared.
He burst out laughing and Rich huffed, sitting back down.
"You athhole." He grimaced.

"So you two are going out?" He sipped his drink.
I reached out and quickly pulled a hand over his mouth.
"Shut up." I seethed.

"Why is it a secret- ohhhh Jake." He looked like he was having a blast.
"You guys are like a TV show. Best friend and sister going out, hiding from fill-in dad."
I didn't like the way he said that last part.
I threw my empty cup at his head.
"Not 'fill-in dad', just... overprotective."
If he was "fill-in dad" he'd have a mom to stop him.
I missed mom and dad.

He nodded.
"Sorry. Just... wow. You guys are cute." He smirked.
I rolled my eyes and Rich hung his head bashfully. He looked cute.
I held his hand under the table.
"Yah, we are."
Rich smiled and leaned closer to me.

"Hey guys!" I heard Jake yell behind us and I quickly ripped my hand away.
Jake plopped down next to me, munching on a bag of chips.
"What ya'll talking about?"
I smiled and glanced at Rich.
"Cute things."
"So puppies?"
