"Mommy! Come look at these flowers with me!" the little blonde girl shouted as she ran around her mother.

The mother chuckles, "okay okay honey, ill be there in a bit. And slow down a bit."

"But I wanna look at the flowers now, mommy!" the little girl groaned impatiently.

"Why don't you go on ahead and I'll catch up? Okay, sweetheart?" the mother asked, lovingly gazing upon her beautiful daughters smile. The mother was sat comfortably in her mates arms, enjoying each others warmth. Scarlet and Malcolm had to enjoy this day as much as they could, as it wouldn't come often. It's was one of the rare days Malcom could get off, being the beta and all. Their older children, Veronica and Arthur would have come but they wanted to be with their friends instead of family. Their loss anyways.

"Okay" the little blonde exclaimed before running through the meadow happily.

"But don't go too far and don't go into the forest!" the mother worriedly shouted.

As the liitle girl was giggling while running, Scarlet and Malcom just closed their eyes whilst holding each other on the blanket, savouring as mush as they could from the sun and themselves. Everything was bliss. The birds tweeting, the occasional breeze from the wind, the fresh scent of nature and the lush warmth of the sun. Nothing could get better. Until that peace was disrupted.

It was when Ashley was chasing a uniquely coloured butterfly that she felt immense and searing pain throughout her body. She tripped and screamed and thrashed around the grass, but nothing could stop the pain.

" Ashley!" both the mother and father shouted as they jumped up and sped towards their daughter as she screamed louder and louder.

"What's wrong with her? She was fine just seconds ago" the mother asks her mate, as she held her daughter close, who was spilling tears much like a fountain. The father thought for a minute, thinking where he saw this situation before. Only one possibility.

"I think she's shifting."

"But that's impossible. She's 7 years old. She should shift at 16, not 9 years earlier!" the mother pointed out, as it was true. Male werewolves first shift at 13, 10 with the inclusion of alpha blood. Females shift when they find their mates, at 16, no exceptions.

"I don't know but it's the only thing I can think of. Ashley, baby, try not to fight the pain. Relax and let it happen without resisting. Can you do that for me?" the father asks her daughter, who nods her head immediately and does as instructed. The little girl's body relaxed as popping sounds could be heard. The popping turned to cracking as the girl screamed again. Her body shaking uncontrollably as her bones began to rearrange. Her hands turned to claws. Her ears become pointy. Her nose to a snout. Dark fur patches surfaces as her body grows larger. Her legs snap and shape into the hind legs of that of a large wolf. Her back becomes larger and more spread. Her eyes become blood red as her teeth become sharper, and her canines become similar to fangs of a large snake.

The eery noises stopped. The little girl completed her shift. Her parents looked at their daughter in fear but also awe. They couldn't comprehend what just happened. Their daughter, their 7 year old daughter just shifted before finding her mate. That's not even the weirdest part. Their once, tiny, cute, blonde and cheeky little girl shifted into a pitch black wolf, that can stand on her two hind legs, with the arms, that were supposed to be front paws, claws that seems like they were forged and sharpened by the best blacksmith along with defined muscles. Her once ocean blue eyes have become blood red, ones that you would see in a blood crazed vampire. The strange creature also had red markings. Markings that looked to be swirls or maybe tribal tattoos and they decorated the creatures whole body, much like the ominous and powerful aura that the wolf seemed to naturally give out.

It was like electric. The answers began to invade the mothers mind. She knows what's happening. She knows why it happened. She knows her daughters destiny. It seemed the father had the same thing. The parents knew what was to come and how. It was only a matter of when.

"Sweety, think of your human form. Every detail and how it feels to be in your body as a human." the father instructed.

The little black wolf nodded. After a series of pops, snaps and cracks, the little girl appeared, but her blond hair was now black, exactly like er wolfs fur. Her eyes now red. Her height also seemed to grow an inch.

"Mommy, daddy... What.... just.... happened?" the girl asked. She started to sob. She was scared of what she was, and she knew nothing. "Am.... am I a monster?"

The mother immediately knelt down and pulled her daughter into her. "No, no sweety, you are not a monster. Certainly not. You're nowhere near a monster." the mother cooed as she held her daughter close to her chest, stroking her hair. "But you must promise us that you will not tell anyone what just happened, okay? You won't ever shift again, not in front of anybody okay? Not even the pack or the family. Or even your brother it sister Can you promise us that?" the mother asked as the father joined in the hug.

"O-o-okay mommy. I promise. D-do you still love me?" the girl asked with hope. She needed to be sure.

"Of course we still lover you, baby girl." the father told his daughter. "We will always love you. Nothing can or will ever change that. You're our little princess."

The little girl giggled. She was glad her parents still loved her. The family stood up and walked back home, unaware of what was to come.

A/N: Well I hoped you enjoyed reading the prologue of my first story. Honestly, I started this 2 years ago and just dropped it halfway through chapter one, so I don't know where this is going. Guess I'm just using it as a distraction from the shit hole that is life at the moment. Please don't ask for an update schedule, there won't be one. I have a busy life which means I can't guarantee consistent updates, or updates at all for that matter. All I can say is I will try. Anyways, thanks for checking it out and stay tuned for more. Also, let me know how you feel about the story, and criticism is fine, just be honest. Final note, the image used above ain't mine, it's from our trusty friend Google. 😅

Thanks. 🥰
