From the author- Hey guys Inanna this side. As you must know if you've read about me, this is the first book I've gathered the courage to actually publish anywhere. Please try to ignore the silly little mistakes I make literally everywhere. I'm so sorry. Still trying to figure my way out here. I would love to listen to your feedback and suggestions about the story. Please be interactive and vocal so that we can together enjoy this journey and so that I can know that there's actual human beings out there reading my book and it's not the just my own views i'm seeing . Please share if you like what i do. :))
Chapter 1
' Be careful with what you ask for....for it may just come true.'
The sound of spinning of a glass bottle against a wooden table top is almost therapeutic. That was a weird epiphany to have right now. But I was listening to it and smiling, till the time it stopped with its head facing towards me.
Oh crap
Tyler flashed at me his most evil smile, mischivious Blue eyes filled with excitement while Ray burst into laughter.
'This is going to be very interesting. Don't you think Ray?'
Ty said wiggling his eyebrows.
I couldn't help laughing myself. What an over grown baby.
'Bring it on dude.' I tried to put up a strong front. Inside I was cringing at the possible outcomes of this. These were my best buddies but still.
Okay Conn, you need to atleast let them in. It's just good fun no one is trying to invade your privacy. Just breathe in and breathe out.
'I'll do the honours please' Ray dramatically raised both his arms in the air trying to thank an imaginary crowd.
' So, my dearest, most innocent Connor. You seem and act so pure. Would you like to tell us honestly, what was the last time you were 'involved' with a female. And who was it?'
By the glint in both their eyes I could tell how thirsty my guys were for the details of my 'female associations'. It was understandable yet quite funny. I never did choose to be a favourite with the adults but I was like that.I had always had my priorities straight and girls were never one of them.
A radiant, smiling face with chestnut hair and deep sea blue eyes flashed in front of my eyes. A little shook up, I pushed the image out of my head and smiled back at them with some effort.
'There hasn't been anyone but Stacy.'
A deep silence fell over the massive room. Both of them looking sober now.
' Conn there must be a reason. I know it. She is going to come back and we are always right here by your side. You have an amazing future ahead bud. Focus on that. Stace will come around soon enough.' Ray said sincerely.
'But Ray, Stace better come back soon dude. I don't like what this is doing to Conn. Bud don't you worry, I'll find her. She has got some major answering to do. And u never know... It may turn into the adventure of our lives.' Ty replied making all of smile.
'Let's just wrap up now guys. It's pretty late and we have a test tomorrow.'
"Connnnnn!!!!" they said in unison.' It's just a class test. What is wrong with you'
'ummm... its not that important I suppose then.' I was by now doing the guilty neck scratch.
Suddenly, the lights went off.Jesus Christ. This was going to be a long bumpy trek to the candles.
'Ray bro, there is no way any of us are getting up. You need to find the candles in this giant mansion of yours. Because if either me or Conn get up and try either we will never find the candles or if we do by a stroke of luck, we will never make it back here.'
'On it' There was a ruffle of clothes and receding footsteps when suddenly they turned into struggling. There was a sound of knuckles against a jaw. 'Fuck' Ty muttered getting up. As suddenly as the power went the lights were back on.
Around us stood five men, clad in crisp black suites. Gosh it looked like they literally just walked out of a spy movie. As huge a fan I was of action movies, it did nothing to tone down the spookiness of this. One of them was holding Ray by the neck as
if trying to drag him somewhere.
It all just happened in a flash. A huge bulk of muscles and tattooed skin floated past me and nailed the guy holding Ray in the nose. It took me a few seconds to catch up with Ty. I jumped up and smoothly slipped the gun out from the closest man's waist. 'Stop it!' I yelled, pointing the gun at the head of the owner. My eyes did a quick sweep. The guy who just got punched held his nose with one hand while the other rested on the gun on his waist. Two others were just about to lunge at Tyler while he was still holding off one.
There was no way we were winning this.
In a split second, I shot the guy in the leg instead and moved towards the other two while the rest of them quickly reached for their guns. With a loud thud the butt of one caught Ty's head. Alright, shit just got real. You don't mess with not one but both of them. I got down and tripped the man standing next to me and jammed my elbow into the stomach of the other. As I turned around to look for the third one, I was faced with the gun pointing right at my forehead. Dropping my own gun I sighed. Ty and Ray were both being pretty forcefully taken somewhere out of the room. Two of them grabbed my hands as well and started escorting me out with them.
Walking out into the cream corridor, I caught a flash of blonde hair.
Shit!
We completely forgot about Sam. But with her head held high, perfect makeup and enthusiastic clicking of heels, she seemed quite okay and comfortable walking with these men.
They took us down to the staircase leading to the underground parking. We went down one floor, and then another... I didn't know there existed a second basement. I glanced at Ray. He didn't know either. It looked just like the upper parking lot. Except it was a lot more darker and there were only four bulbs illuminating the huge place. Things were barely visible but for the major part it was empty. It felt as if we had been walking for ages now. We stopped right in front of the end of the space. The light was too dim to even make out the wall. One of the suited men broke from us and switched on a light.
And right there in front of us stood the most unexpected sight. There was no wall. There was a black unending hole going downwards infinitely.
I need to think fast. Falling to your death without even knowing the reason isn't exactly my cup of tea.
