I am a week and a half over my due date and no sign of baby Kamari yet. We've been playing the waiting game for what seems like forever. Me and Zion just want our baby boy to be here. My doctor said if we patiently wait, labor might occur naturally. If I haven't gone into labor in the next week they will induce me. Me and Zion have tried numerous things to bring on labor like going on long walks, eating spicy curries and even having sex but nothing has worked yet and we are still waiting. It's actually so annoying waiting to go into labor but I have to do what my doctor says. Zion and I are sat on the couch together. "Babe, I'm so tired of waiting. Why don't we try and bring on the labor again by perhaps going for another walk?" he said. "But Z we seem to have tried everything and nothing has worked yet. Let's just wait" I reply. "But, baby I don't want to wait and I know you don't either. I just wanna meet our son" Zion said. "I know and I do too" I reply. He finally persuaded me to go out for a walk. I didn't feel like arguing with him. I know we are both anxious to meet our son. So we go on our shoes and coats and go for a walk around the neighbourhood. It's pretty cold as it's the middle of fall. Zion holds my hand as we walk. "Sweetie, you don't have to rush. Take your time. Another walk might work. You never know" he said. We take a nice stroll for about an hour or so before returning home. It was cold but we warmed up later. Don't know if the walk will bring on my labor. Hopefully or nothing will

Sometime later and I'm eating some soup that we got from the grocery store as I'm cold. Zion heated it up for me in the microwave. Just what I needed. It's about two hours since we went on our walk and still no sign of contractions or labor pains. "Are you okay, babe?" Zion says walking into the room. "Yeah I'll be fine. Thank you for the soup. It warmed me up so much" I say. "You're very welcome, baby" Zion said kissing my cheek. Not long after I get up to go to the bathroom and all of a sudden before I get to the bathroom, my waters break and I begin to have contractions. "Zion, I think I'm in labor" I yell. "Okay. I'm coming, baby" he said. "My waters just broke" I say. "It's okay, honey. Go to the toilet and we'll see where we go from there" Zion said. "What if I have the baby in the toilet?" I say. "That won't happen. Just stay calm" he said. Soon Zion takes me to the hospital when my contractions become more regular. It's happening now. I get examined and I'm not fully dilated yet but the doctor said it won't be long. Hopefully he's right. Zion stays by my side fetching me cold flannels, drinks and snacks. About 5 hours later I was fully dilated and at last it was time to push. It has been an hour, it feels like forever though. Zion sits by my side and holds my hand and encourages me. I was squeezing onto his hand so tight I was afraid I was hurting him but he didn't complain. "Come on, baby. You're doing so well. He's nearly here. I'm so freaking proud of you" Zion said. I huff and puff. "Just a couple more pushes and your beautiful baby boy is here" the midwife says. I push a couple more times and then our son is born

As soon as baby Kamari was born, the midwives cleaned him up and wrapped him in a towel and handed him straight to us. They recommend skin to skin contact as it's good for mother and baby bonding. The midwife hands us Kamari with a smile on her face. "Congratulations he's beautiful" she said. "Hey, baby boy" I say. "Hi, son. I'm your daddy" Zion said. "Wow! I can't believe he's here. I'm so elated" I say. "I know me too. He's so cute. What an awesome baby we have?" Zion said. "I know he is. Wow! We are parents and we are holding our son for the first time" I say. "We are. Hey. Welcome to the world, Kamari. Me and you are gonna be best buddies. Imma teach you everything" he said. "Yep I bet you are" I reply. "I can't believe I'm finally a dad. It's a dream come true" Zion said. I smile and look at Kamari and admire how cute and beautiful he is. "Babe, I'm so proud of you and how you did. It mustn't be easy pushing a whole human being out of your vagina" Zion said. "Nope. It's definitely not but thank you, baby" I reply. So Zion and I spend sometime getting to know our newborn son and enjoying our first moments of parenthood. Baby Kamari might be late but he's finally here safe and sound and we couldn't be happier
