"I'll be back soon."
"Be careful."
"When am I not?"
That was the last thing Jimin heard from his boyfriend before he left that night. Jimin watched out the window as Jungkook started to jog down the sidewalk. When he was out of view, he locked their front door, and he went to wash up for bed.
The sun wasn't quite set yet, but Jungkook knew that it would get dark before he got back home. He didn't think much of it. He enjoyed the cool air and the lack of people on the street on weeknights. However, since he was out later than he intended to be, he decided to take a short cut on the way back to the apartment. He passed by a 24 hour convenience store on the journey back, and he took the opportunity to take a short break for some water.
"Hello," he greeted, slightly out of breath as he walked in.
Both the employee and existing customer answered, and the conversation ended there until Jungkook was at the counter with a bottle of water.
"Is that all?"
"Yes. Thank you." Jungkook turned to fish his wallet from his bag only to catch the stranger next to the snack aisle staring at him. He bowed politely and quickly payed for his water. He immediately opened it and sighed thankfully at the taste. He thanked the employee again, and he left, shoving the water bottle in his bag and setting off down the sidewalk.
Jungkook woke the next morning with a stinging pain running through his body, but he had no idea where it was rooted. He hissed at the sharp pain in his neck as he sat up in his bed. Maybe he had slept on his neck wrong? Or maybe his whole body was in a weird position all night? He popped his neck and rubbed it as his eyes adjusted to the light in his bedroom.
Weird.
The light was still on. He never slept with the light on. He shook off the feeling and swung his legs over the side of the bed, his clothed feet hitting the floor.
Even weirder.
He had fallen asleep with his socks on? No. He had fallen asleep without changing or cleaning at all after his jog. He groaned, suddenly feeling disgusted with himself. He forced himself to stand up despite his back crying to lay back down, and he headed to the shower. Jimin greeted him with breakfast after.
"I saw you sleeping in your clothes this morning, so I thought I would make you breakfast." Jimin's pureness radiated from his smile. "I tried to wake you up to change, but you just pushed me away."
"Ah, I'm sorry." Jungkook laughed softly, "I must have been tired last night. I don't remember doing that at all."
There was a moment of silence before Jungkook added, "I don't remember much from last night, actually."
The topic died as soon as Jungkook had finished his sentence as their phone had began to ring. Jimin answered it, spoke for a minute, and put it back on the receiver with a sigh.
"Work." He frowned and collected his plates, food still unfinished, "They want me to go in early."
Jungkook sent his boyfriend off to work with a smile, trying to cheer the older up despite being a little disappointed himself, and then, he was left alone. He cleaned the dishes he and Jimin had used to eat, and the pain in his neck and back started to set in again. He took the day to lay in bed with heating pads pressed to his sore spots, waiting for Jimin to come back home so he could talk him into giving him a massage.
