Ross

I've been counting the days slowly, each one drifting by slowly like boats drifting by large mountains. Never in my life have I been so scared. I don't know what day she's coming but soon she'll be here, and soon things are going to be terrible, dramaful, and full of hatred.

"Ross!" Rose yelled at me. "Huh? Sorry, just zoned out," I responded before shaking my head, trying to rid myself of the thoughts floating around in my mind. "Ross, if this Laura thing is going to be too much for you, maybe we need a break," Rose said sadly. "No! No, I don't want a break. I love you Rose, I just don't want to run into Laura once she gets back," I explained, hoping she'd understand.

Rose nodded her head. "I get it Ross, I love you too, but maybe you need some time," she said before kissing my cheek and walking out of my room, I"m guessing to leave. I sighed. Once I heard the front door close I collapsed onto my bed, drowning in my own thoughts.

What was going to happen? Do I still have feelings for her even after three years? Does she still have feelings for me? I know I'm dating someone, but Laura was my first love, and I think deep down inside, I do still have feelings for her, but there's a reason they're deep down inside of me.

My heart fell to my feet when Rydel flew into my room moments after my internal thoughts vanished.

"Ross," she breathed out.

I took a deep breath. "Yes" I asked.

She also took a deep breath.

"She's back Ross, her flight just landed," Rydel said, looking right at me. My heart sunk. "No, no it's too soon, she can't be back already," I quickly said, getting to my feet. "Yeah, Raini just texted me that she's picking Laura up right now," Rydel said.

I grabbed my coat and keys. "Ross? Where are you going?" Rydel questioned. "To the studio. I need to get something," I said before running out of the room.

I feel hazed as I look through the drawers of one of our main recording studios. I'm trying to find a song I wrote a while back for Laura and see if maybe R5 can put it on our album. Things aren't going to be easy from here, so might as well make music about it.

I'm still digging through things when I hear someone come into the room and I duck inside the recording booth.

"We really need some new songwriters around here, some of the songs we're producing aren't up for discussion, they're that bad," someone said. I rolled my eyes. The songs they write are great, I'm not sure what they're talking about.

"'Yeah, I agree. It seems like we just need a fresh set of hands around here," another person added. "Okay, glad you agree. Get on the phone right now and find me a new batch of songwriters, one to work with each artist," the man said.

"On it Sir," the other one said before footsteps tumbled across the floor and out of the room, signaling that someone had left. Hoping they had both left, I poked my head up, but to my despair someone was still standing there.

"Ross?" he asked. This wasn't just anyone, this was the president of Hollywood Records. "Oh, hey Don, you look great, it's been awhile"," I said, trying to play it cool and extending my hand. His face glossed over in confusion and anger. "It's been three days since I last talked to you," he said sternly. "Oh, yeah right," I said, scratching the back of my neck. "What are you doing here Mr. Lynch?" he asked sternly, clearly not impressed.

"Oh, uhm just came back to grab my phone. I forgot it here the other day, yeah," I explained hoping he'd buy it. He narrowed his eyes at me, but ended up believing me. "Alright Lynch, now get outta here. Go hang out with your crazy family," he said, now smiling. I nodded and ran out of the studio towards my car.

That was way to close.

"Riker!" I yelled as I ran into the house. He came out of the kitchen to face me. "What's up Ross?" he asked eating pizza. "They're giving out fresh new song writers at HR and firing the current ones. They think all of the artists need to grow and for that reason we're getting clean slates," I explain as his eyes widen. "I loved our writing team..." Riker trialed off. I nodded. "Me too," I said, weary about this situation.

My biggest fear isn't loosing the writing team however, no it's far worse than that.

Laura's POV

"Raini!" I exclaimed as she entered the airport. I left my luggage to go hug her, missing her open arms and her constant caring heart. "Laura, I missed you way too much," Raini said, helping me with my bags. "I missed you too!" I said smiling. "So how's Bri doing?" Raini asked.

Bri also got into MUNY but decided to major in music for one more year before coming home. (A/N- Bri will reutrn later in the story)

"She wanted to major one more year, so she decided to come back next year," I explained and Raini nodded her head. Bri was my other best friend. We roomed together for three years, how can you not be best friends after that? "How's everything here?" I asked, hoping she wouldn't bring up him.

"Good, things have been good. Haven't talked to Maia in a long time, and Kailey and I hang out pretty much every weekend," she said, knowing I didn't want to bring up the topic of Ro- him.

"Sounds like tons of fun! I can't wait to join in on the fun," I said, getting into Raini's car. "So you were majoring in music in MUNY, what kind of work are you going to look for now?" Raini asked, glancing at me resume.

"Well, anything like being a music teacher, even though I'm only 19, or even just teaching the basic of music, or creating my own music program," I explained happily. "Oh, because I see 'Professional Songwriter' on that list too," Raini said smiling at me and then focusing back on the road.

"Oh, well that's a little far-fetched. I mean, that's like writing for a record label, but we'll see who gets a hold of my resume," I laughed and looked out the window. It's LA, maybe getting a job at a record label wouldn't be so hard.

I could do it...
