Chapter 19 Dare to Dare

Chapter 19

[Francis POV]

Teachers were all busy preparing para sa foundation day ng school. Though we didn't have classes the thing was, the school still required the students to come and attend the celebration.

Of all the students, I was the most excited because we'd have the tournament game on the last day of the week. It would be the finale of the whole program. My groupmates were very supportive. They were actually planning a surprise for me during the game daw. Ano naman kaya ang surpresa ng mga yon mas lalo tuloy akong na excite.

During the game nag start, na yung first quarter pero wala akong makita ni kahit isang team mate ko. Somehow I felt a bit dismayed but my other classmates pati ang group ni Ryan todo support naman. Ang mga lintek solid kung maka pang asar sa kalaban naming team. Good thing the first quarter was in favor of out team.

Half ng second quarter wala pa rin sila at badtrip dahil naungusan kami ng ilang puntos ng kalaban naming team. Inasahan ko na na hindi na talaga sila darating.

Tumawag muna ng break time si coach.

"Hey Francis! What's happening with you? You're not in your element. Focus! Focus on the game!" Sigaw ni Couch.

 "Yes couch!" Tugon ko naman.

Ipinaliwanag naman ni Couch yung game plan nya and then back to the court na. Nagsimula ng mag init ang laban sa second half ng second quarter ng makarinig ako ng malakas na sigawan mula sa taas ng bleachers "Go Red Eagle! Fight! Fight! Fight! Sinisigaw nila yung logo ng university namin. Narinig kong may mga sumigaw ng "Go Francis Go!" pagtingin ko sa pinanggalingan ng mga boses napangiti naman ako sa nakita ko. Ang mga lintek nakasuot din ng jersey shirts na kagaya ng jersey uniform namin. Talagang nagpatahi pa talaga silang lahat. Napailing na lang ako sa tuwa.

It sparked an uproar from the crowd, the next thing we knew the whole crowd went wild, shouting our insignia, "Go Go Red Eagle!!!. It gave another shot of adrenalin rush to the players kaya mas lalo tuloy kaming ginanahan mag laro.

During the 3rd quarter, the opposing team was on the lead with over 10 points. Their players were actually good in defense. In the fourth quarter, we managed to make the score closer to 70 over 68 in favor of the opposing team.

The second half of the fourth quarter was very critical. The atmosphere was strained and the spectators were in frenzy. I could hear the shout coming from my teammates becoming much louder. It was really difficult to shoot a point because the opposing team was very firm on their guard. Their strategy was to let the time run out before anyone from us could hit another point. Last 2 minutes, nobody saw it coming but Arkee managed to get the ball, and out of sheer luck, he made a long shot.

The buzzer announcing the end of the game, people were on their feet anticipating, the ball bounced on the metal ring and hit the board of the basketball ring and a few seconds the whole place was in pandemonium. The ball dropped inside the ring!  Putek an Arkee na  yan swerte talaga ang ungas! It was a great game.

Pagkatapos ng game nagsilapitan naman ang grupo nila Edz para I congratulate ang buong team ng mga players. Walang tigil naman sa pagkuha ng pictures ang mga adik. Natuwa naman ako ng nagpapicture kami habang nasa center ako dahil naka jersey shirt din ang mga adik. Hindi ko talaga inaasahan na ganitong klase ng suporta ang gagawin ng mga kolokoy na to, pati sina Edz at Clarence naka jersey rin hahaha. Kaya pala medyo nahuli sila ng dating kanina ay dahil dinaanan pa nila yung mga ipinatahi nilang mga jersey shirts sa mananahi, napangiti tuloy ako habang isinasalaysay ni Abel.

A week after ng game naman, I was still on a high though na busy na ang lahat para sa paghahanda para sa finals. The group decided to have a group study sa weekend bago yung week ng finals so I offered my place. After ng community service namin tumuloy naman kami sa bahay para mag group study.Nga pala progress report, magaling ng sumulat at magbasa ng numero at titik ang mga bata. Kahit papano nagbubunga rin yung pagtuturo namin sa kanila.
