She stood there with her eyes closed on the rocky cliff taking in the salty smell the air absorbed from the ocean, and feeling the mist settle on her face. It was a bleak late October day in Maine and the dismal day was her fault. The weather conformed to her moods. It was sunny when she was happy; stormy when she was angry; calm when she was content; and rainy when she cried.

The chilly wind blew her wavy, chestnut brown hair off her shoulders and her dress slightly wrapped around her thin legs. She heard his footsteps come up behind her and it was the moment she was dreading. She almost wished they'd never met that way they didn't have to go through this. All too soon he was within five feet of her. She squeezed her eyes shut tightly then reopened them to reveal her unique eyes.

"Hello, Elisa," he said as she turned around.

His heart skipped as he took in the girl standing before him. Her wavy unruly hair hung just past her shoulders in a beautiful chestnut brown mess, her eyes were bright emerald green with a grayish color that started at her pupil and seemed to explode outward all the way to the edge of her iris. Her eyes were brimmed with long, thick eyelashes which made her beautifully unusual eyes stand out even more than they already did. She was fairly short; around 5' 3", and skinny. To any other person, she bordered the edge between plain and beautiful. Of course to him she was beyond beautiful- she was enchanting, intoxicating and he couldn't get enough.

"Hello, Jeremiah," Elisa said, "we have issues to discuss."

Jeremiah was a tall muscular boy, pushing six foot tall, with sandy blond hair and icy blue eyes. He loved Elisa more than any of the girls who threw themselves at him. Jeremiah was anything but plain and every family in the town would consider him an ideal suitor for their daughters. He had everything going for him- hardworking, wealthy family, looks, and he wouldn't have to ever worry about any hardships or disciplines in town because his family sat on the council.

"What might that be? Elisa, you look so sad. What is wrong my love?"

She knew what she had to do. She knew she had to do it. "Just say it already! You cannot deny this any longer!" she thought to herself. She knew it was dangerous for her and for her whole family and even her entire village. Her love for one boy could cost everyone everything they had. Even their lives.
