bill and stan were walking to the quarry.

no one had said a word to each other.

once they approached the quarry they immediately saw richie and eddie.

"hey guys!" richie yelled.

he waved his arm at stan and bill.

"hi." stan said quietly.

eddie smiled at both stan and bill and told them to sit.

"so wuh-what are you guh-guys doing?"

"we're just sitting, waiting for you guys to come." richie said.

"oh okay... wuh-well we're here so we can guh-get in now."

"right, let's go!" richie said.

they all got up except for stan.

"you coming stan?" eddie asked.

"oh yeah... i am."

stan sighed and got up.

they were all lined up ready to jump off.

"ready ed's?" richie looked over at eddie.

"yeah i guess so..." eddie said with a touch of nervousness.

richie grabbed eddies hand.

they jumped off.

eddie was screaming like a girl.

richie wasn't screaming at all.

once they plummeted to the water bill turned to stan.

stan didn't say anything.

bill pulled his hand out.

"you ready to-

stan jumped into the water.

bill looked down shocked.

stan didn't make any sound jumping into the water.

"uhm... o-okay?"

bill went in all by himself.

bill turned over to stan and gave him a confused look.

stan looked away.

they were all now in the quarry.

"we're playing chicken!" richie yelled.

"no thanks." stan mumbled.

"why not?" eddie said.

"i don't really like to play chicken."stan said.

"oh come on stan don't be annoying!" richie said.

"i'm sorry i just don't want to." stan said.

"fine." richie said.

bill looked over at stan confused.

"hey richie?" eddie asked. 

"yea?" richie replied.

"where'd you put my phone?" eddie asked.

"my backpack here i'll show you." richie said.

he started to swim back to the shore.

eddie followed him.

"wait up richie!" eddie said struggling to swim to him.

bill made eye contact with stan for a while then looked away.

both of them were in an awkward silence.

the only sound was the water splashing back and fourth.
