Thinking, I said," call the crew. Ask if any of them has seen Mir since last night. I'll ge the boys." Nodding in agreement, Annica picked up her phone.
After calling all the guys and telling them to meet us here, at the Point, I turned back to Annica and saw her speaking rapidly. After hanging up, she turned to me and I saw that her face was ashen.
"No one has seen her since yesterday afternoon," she said. I felt panic settle like a second skin over me.
Breathing deeply, I told her,"the guys are on the way. Who else is close enough to know her?"
For a few seconds, Annica was quiet. Then, as if she had an aha moment, Annica looked to me, her lips pursed in dissaprovement. "Drew."
Realization dawned on me. I had noticed the way he looked at her and the way she blushed when we mentioned him. She was also unnaturally protective...
"Look," I pointed. By chance, Drew was walking out of Sam's Salamanders, his head down.
Annica and I both started running towards him. Hearing rapid footsteps, Drew turned around with a wary look on his face. "What do you want, Liann?"
Glaring at him, I asked scornfully,"have you seen Miranda?"
Shaking his head slowly, the jerk replied,"no."
Pouncing on him, I said," Drew Killian I don't care if you guys are having a baby! This is and urgent matter! None of us has seen her since yesterday afternoon! I will ask you again, have. You. Seen. Miranda?"
Drew's eyebrows were almost hidden by his side-swept bangs. Shaking his head a little, he replied,"not since last night."
Behind me, Annica's breathing started speeding up."What did you guys do last night?"
"None of your business," he snapped.
"Don't speak to her like that,"I snarled.
Suddenly, Drew's face paled. "No," he just about whispered. "She didn't. I though she was okay now."
Turning back to us and realizing we were staring at him in complete confusion, Drew's eyes narrowed. "Was she acting any different?"
Hesistating at the hostility in his voice, I stepped back a bit, pulling Annica with me. "N-no..."
Growling almost like a wild animal, Drew lurched forward. Just then, the guys came and Brandon and Miles grabbed his arms while Tyler stood protectively in front of us, his hands up in a calming gesture. "Woah man what's wrong with you?!" Tyler asked.
"It's not what's wrong with me," Drew hissed in response. "You people are the ones who killed her!"
In their shock, Brandon and Miles let go of Drew. Brushing of his arms, Drew stepped back in disgust.
Just then, Christina joined us. "Hey guys! Where's Mir?"
Glaring over at her, Drew growled,"she's dead, you idiot."
In any other situation, I wouldn't laughed at the look on Christina's face, her mouth gaping open and her eyes wider than Bambi. Even now, as I heard about the downfall of my best friend, I felt hysterical. Laughing breathily, I said,"this isn't something to kid about, Drew. I mean it. What happened to her? Where is she?"
Turning on me, Drew looked like he was about to attack. But then, he just slumped against the wall and said,"go look for her at the cliff and you'll know."
"Come on guys," Brandon said, "let's go."
Turning as a group, we left the weeping Drew alone.
