"Tell her. Them yo chips" Kentrell said to Kemoni and she smiled while grabbing one out of the bag
"Lil girl. Gimme my chips back"
She looked at sherhonda and reached out the chip she held in her hand for sherhonda to grab it
"Ion want that shit"
Kemoni started to laugh and ate the chip
"Can I ask a question. I've been wondering this for the longest" I said out loud "how in the world did y'all ever become cool? Y'all ain't even know each other"
"We met through Derek" my momma answered and I sighed before looking at sherhonda
"What did you or kendell do?"
"Y'all know kendell always gettin into some shit. I had to go get some legal advice about some shit he did and yo momma was up there at his office. When I was talkin to him about kendell, Kentrell popped up in the conversation and as soon as yo momma heard me talk about Kentrell that's when she told me she was yo momma"
"The hell yall talkin bout me for?" Kentrell muttered and I slapped his arm. Nasir looked at Kentrell and started reaching for him but Kemoni didn't like that
"NO" she fussed at him and I cocked my head
"Don't talk to my baby like that. I'll cut cha ass"
Nasir now wore a mean look on his face and dropped his head down on my mommas shoulder
"What brought y'all over here today?" I asked them and my mom rubbed Nasir's back while she answered my question
"Cause we wanted to come. Next question"
I frowned and Kentrell laughed then leaned against the counter. "Well since both of y'all here. I need y'all to do some for us?"
I looked at Kentrell confused yet he continued to talk
"Watch Kemoni and Nasir for a couple days"
"Huh?" I was now confused
"What y'all bout to do?" Momma asked and sherhonda waited along with her for Kentrell to answer
"You askin too many questions" Kentrell responded
"It better not involve more of these lil demon seeds runnin round"
"It do though" Kentrell responded to sherhonda while walking over to me, wrapping his arms around me and I looked back at him
"Wait what?"
"Don't start asking questions too. Turn back around" he rudely replied causing me to roll my eyes
"I'm sick of being mistreated in this house"
"Can't be too sick of it. You stayed this long" my momma muttered
"Ain't nobody ask you to say nothing" I rolled my eyes and her phone started to ring. As she answered it, sherhonda grabbed Nasir
"Mine" Kemoni fussed at sherhonda, reaching for Nasir and sherhonda looked at her some type of way
"Girl this my grand baby"
"No!"
"Kemoni you posed to say hell no" Kentrell told her
Once I saw the smile on her face I gave her a stern look "NO YOU DONT"
"Wait what!?"My momma yelled catching our attention she then sighed and cursed herself bed continuing her conversation "lord Jesus. I'll tell the girls"
Once she said that my heart started racing fast
"What's wrong momma"
She hung up the phone and blew a long breath before looking at me
"Noel.. that was Rachel, your dad's cousin"
"What she callin you for?"
Yet again she took a breath before answering my question "your dad... he was in a bad car accident. He didn't make it"
Just then my heart stopped for a little bit and I furrowed my brows "wha... what?"
"He died this morning Noel"
For some reason I started to feel sick and my eyes watered up a little but I didn't cry.
"You straight?" Kentrell asked me but I couldn't answer. He hugged onto me tight causing Kemoni to come over to us, doing the same thing to my leg. I just deeply breathed and laid my head on his shoulder
"Dana... Elena" I said with a sigh.
Although I had a bond with my dad, Dana was his first and she has the closest bond with him. They talked all the time, a whole lot more than Elena and I did. And Elena, she doesn't have any type of bond with her momma so she only really had him as a biological parent plus she's pregnant right now
"I guess I should tell them too" momma said while standing up. The whole mood of the room went downhill just that fast
"I can't do this all over again. I can't" I huffed. Memories of when my grandma died instantly filled my mind. Kentrell continued to hug me while turning to look at sherhonda
"Y'all wanna take Kemoni and Nasir for a lil bit?"
"Yeah we got them. Just make sure Noel straight" sherhonda responded back "where the diaper bag at?"
Kentrell released his arms from around me and grabbed my hand, leading me into the room. I sat down on the bed while he packed a bag for the kids then walked out of the room. I could hear him exchange words with them and soon after he walked back into the room and sat on the bed beside me
"Why?" Was all I asked out loud then looked at Kentrell
"Shit ion know. But ima make sure y'all straight. Ight"
He then kissed my forehead and I laid my head on his shoulder, exhaling deeply
