I inhale deeply - cold air, humid air, hot air, smoggy air; it doesn't matter. My lungs expand, rib cage pressing outwards, clothing stretching, reminding me of this precious thing that I once took for granted and almost threw away. Someone who worked in a hospital once told me he'd observed the only difference between a cadaver and a live person was the presence - or absence - of breath. So suck it in deeply, and prove your alive.
