Alexander's Point of View

"She fell down the stairs? She fell down the fucking stairs," Ryan huffed before he continued. "That has to be the worst lie ever! No one falls down the stairs and gets a black eye or a messed up jaw." He turned to face me, a stern look on his face as he pointed a finger at me. "You better tell me the truth Alexander or so help me God I'll find all those damn kids and bring them back here to question them about my baby girl."

I don't know what to say to him so I just sat there on the couch, staring off into space as I remembered the events that happened.

Landon, my best friend, almost raped Sage. Sage going into shocked and almost running off to look for her so called best friend Mark. Sage passing out after she told our father she fell down the stairs. Her small frame being lifted up and being laid down in our bedroom after Jesse cleaned her face off as he cried over her.

"Alex. Alex. Alexander!" Shouted Ryan, getting my attention.

"Hm", I hummed.

"What happened yesterday at the party?" He asked.

I thought about it for a minute before deciding to answer. "I don't know. I was doing something else." I answered, shrugging my shoulders.

"You don't know? How can you possibly not know what happened to your sister!" Ryan said, getting frustrated.

"She's not my sister. She's not anything to me. Yeah, she probably did fall down the stairs. Who knows what happened just let it go", I told him standing up, running my fingers through my hair. "Go ask her herself what happened instead of questioning me." I finished and walked out of the living room, heading upstairs to my room.

I know I shouldn't have lied to him, but how can you tell your father that his daughter almost got rape and was beaten up by his son's former best friend. That it was my fault Sage got hurt. She told me to cancel the party but of course being the jackass I am, I didn't. I had the party and look how things ended up. Sage, who is now laying in her bed in our room asleep because she's under pain medication.

I walked into our room, hoping Sage was awake so I could talk to her, but of course she's asleep. Her light breathing was the only thing that made me sure she was still alive because right now she looks like a corpse. She's pale white, super skinny, with her eye black, and busted lip and jaw. She was curled up into a ball, her face on her purple pillow, and her arms around a stuffed animal Jesse had bought her last year.

She looked adorable. Like a little girl who's afraid to be left alone in the dark. But that's what she is.

A little girl.

She may be 16, but she's still a little girl. She hangs out in our room and plays with her stuffed animals. She's around Ryan like a daddy's girl. She talks like a cute little girl. She has that baby look to herself and you couldn't help but love her.

I couldn't help but love her.

And that was the reason why I'm here standing beside her bedside, tears swelling up in my eyes. I dropped down on my knees and took her small, soft hand into my own. I laced our fingers together and told her repeatedly how sorry I am for everything that happened to her. I buried my face into her covers and cried as I held her hand.
