I had a free period so Dave and I decided to sit at the wooden tables outside the cafeteria. I had an essay due so I was typing that away on my laptop while Dave absentmindedly played with his pen popping it open and close on his teeth. Usually, I'm the type of guy who keeps all school assignments till the very last day but the expulsion scare and the fact that I might be kicked out of the team any second is making me work extra hard so my grades don't falter.

"Something's different about you" Dave said looking at with squinted eyes.

"What? I want to make sure I get at least an A-, B's and C's aren't going to cut it this time" I explained not even bothered to look up at him plus it ruins my train of thought.

"No, it's not that" he tapped his pen on the table "You seem distant like you're thinking of something..." he furrowed his eyebrows "or someone"

"Stop acting like a soap opera drama queen" I simply stated "and let me work"

"Who is she?" He sneered

"Say anything more and I'm going to the library" I warned "Alone!"

That shut him up for the time being but didn't stop him from giving me the side-eye.

The bell rang for next period so I packed my laptop and we both made our back to the lockers. It was the last period, and as practice was off today I got everything I needed to take home so I could straight out after school ended.

"Want to meet up after class?" Dave asked

"No, I've got community service remember" I said "but I do have a favor to ask"

"What is it?"

"I need you to take my car to the shop for its monthly service but the shop closes at 5 so I won't make it" I said

"Sure thing anything to do with cars and I'm in" he said happily

"K meet me up by my car after school and I'll hand over the keys" I told him before heading to class. 

I had biology last period which was a bummer for the life of me I couldn't understand why they place the heavy subjects at the last two periods. Give me an art lesson or P.E something that'll make the time go by faster instead we get Biology, Math, or Chemistry. I swear the clocks seems to move at super slow motion during those classes.

Finally after what felt like hours of torture the 35 minutes class ended and I headed out. The faster I got out of here the faster I could get to community service to somehow convince Mathews and get out this mess. Just as I was about to beat the incoming traffic of eager students like me wanting to go home I heard someone call my name.

"Xander! Over here!" Coach yelled. Just my luck.

"Coach you called" I said after turning around and going up to him.

"Yeah I need to change up the play so I can switch you with Hennessy" coach explained

"Switch me with Rob? But I'm the quarterback!"

"Xander you know I don't care if we don't have a cheer squad for a game or two but now some of the other players are complaining that the school is giving you and Aria preferential treatment" he said placing a hand on my shoulder "I have no choice but to give Rob the quarterback position"
