Moomin One Shot: Lumini Long Stockings

 Snufkin had invited Lumini to come along with him for a walk. They had always enjoyed moments like this, when they could be surrounded by the tall trees who seemed to protect their conversations from the outside world. As Lumini leapt to and fro, the skirt of her dress would lift and reveal the black cloth covering her legs beneath her boots. Snufkin enjoyed watching her and listening to her rattle on about the different flowers in the forest. 

 "This one, " she said, picking a blue bloom, "is a bluebell. They're believed to have magic properties and are commonly used as protection charms." She explained. "Oh, really?" Snufkin mused as they came to a fallen tree at the edge of a small incline. They looked over the edge. "Well, it doesn't seem a dangerous height." The mumrik said as he stepped onto the tree. Placing a hand onto his hat he jumped down to the lower part. Lumini scrambled onto the tree and looked down at Snufkin. He was perfectly fine and smiled up at her. "Come down, Lumini." He told her. She smiled back and laughed as she put a hand on her hat and jumped down herself. The skirt of her dress caught the wind and flowed wildly around her. The poor mumrik made a fatal mistake in watching as she jumped. He was met with sight of her legs being fully exposed. He had always assumed the black over the lower ligaments were leggings. Oh, how wrong he was. They were stockings! His face errupted into a deeper red than he would have liked as be grabbed onto her skirt and pulled it down as her descent was finishing. He looked away so as to hide the color in his face.

 Lumini noticed his odd behavior and covked her head. "Whatever is the matter, Snufkin?" She asked, stepping closer. "I thought you had leggings." He mumbled, still turned away. Lumini laughed. "Oh no! I've been sporting stockings for years!" She chirped, wrapping her arms around his. "Evidently." Was all he could think to say as he began to light his pipe. "Let's continue on, shall we?" Lumini told him as she pulled him down the trail once more.
