Troian's POV

I waited and waited for my parents to come home. I'm shaking and I'm panting. Will they let me do this? What will happen if they say no?

I hear the door open and I hear the footsteps of my parents. I deeply exhaled and walked downstairs. My mom is putting groceries on the table and Dad is putting them away.

"Hey," I said. "I need to talk to you. It's really important."

They both nodded and finished putting groceries away. They sat at the table after they were done.

"Okay," I said. "I wanted to talk to you about something I've been wanting to do for the past few weeks. And I'm quite scared on what you're reaction will be."

"You can talk to us about anything," Mom said.

"In 2009, I want to audition for a show called X-Factor," I said.

"Is that a singing competition?" Dad asked.

"Yes," I nodded.

Mom looks at Dad and he looks at her. I can't describe their expressions.

"We'll think about it," Dad said and I nodded.

I stood up and walked upstairs and into my room. I changed into some pajamas and got into bed. I fell asleep.

I walked down the street. It's around three in the afternoon and kids are getting out of school. Did I mention I don't use crutches anymore?

"Hey, Troian!" Brooke screamed. I dreaded this moment.

"What?" I said.

"What happened to you? You've been gone and I miss bullying and taunting you," She snickered.

"I do school online," I said.

"That's where the stupid goes to," Chelsea laughed.

"Shut up, Chelsea," I said. "You're much more stupider."

"Excuse me?" She said.

"I didn't stutter," I said.

"You apologize now," She said.

"And after everything you've done?" I asked. "No thanks."

I turned around and walked home. I opened the door and walked inside. My parents were sitting on the couch.

"We need to talk," Dad said.

I walked over to them and sat on the couch.

"Troian," Mom said. "You're seventeen and a beautiful girl. You're so smart and focused on what you believe in. And that's music, right?"

"Yes," I nodded. "What are you saying?"

"Troian," Dad said. "Your mother and I talked, we decided that you can audition for this show."

I screamed and jumped up. I jumped around and gave them hugs.

"Thank you!" I screamed.

I jumped around again and ran upstairs.
