"Look, there's the train!" I said while pointing at the Hogwarts Express, large and massive, sitting in the tracks next to platform 9-and-three-quarters, which was practically overflowing with people, some my age, most older, and the occasional parent. I had just learnt that I was a witch, a gift that my step-family were overjoyed at—as it meant I could join my step-sister, Atlantis, a pure blood witch, at the English boarding school called Hogwarts For Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"Yeah, I can see," Atlantis responded. She flicked her dark hair out of her face and grinned at me, then looked at her father. "There's so many students. Why are there so many?"
"Because," Alistair said, "it is a school." He waved his hand vaguely. "Some will be in your year. But remember, there are seven other years. These are all the witches and wizards in England."
"Atlantis, aren't you excited? We can finally learn magic"
"Magic." Atlantis snorted. She put a hand on my shoulder, steering me towards the train, Alistair following, our bags floating in the air between us. "We don't want to be late, and look—" She pointed at the clock. "The train is about to leave."
We got on the train, and Alistair let us take our suitcases the old fashioned way. It was a bit busy but we managed to find a compartment with seats. I opened the train door and Atlantis and I saw a boy with jet black hair and glasses. He looked up as we stepped in.
"Hi," I said as I waved at him. Atlantis merely gave a lofty grin. He waved back us with a smile. Atlantis put our luggage into the overhead compartments whilst I sat on the opposite side of the boy."I'm Atlantis Murphy, and this is Astrid Young," Atlantis said, landing with a whumf on the seat next to me. "I'm pure-blood, she's muggle born. This is our first year. And your name is?"
"Oh, I'm Harry—" the boy started. The compartment door screeched open, and a boy with jet black hair, similar to Harry's, poked his head in. He was close enough that I noticed his eyes were sea-green. (He's cute, Atlantis whispered in my ear. We're ten, I whispered back.)
"Oh hey—is this compartment full, or..?" he asked.
"No; you can sit with us if you want" I answered
He slides into the comportment, pushing his suitcase onto the storage, and sat down next to Harry.
"I'm Percy," he offers. "Percy Jackson."
"I'm Astrid Leong and this is my sister Atlantis Murphy."
"Hey," Atlantis said.
"I'm—" Harry started, as the compartment opened again.
Another black haired boy and a brown haired girl entered.
"Hello," the girl said. She had an American accent. They stowed their luggage away, and the girl dropped down next to me, whilst the boy sat between Harry and Percy. "I'm Piper McLean." Her eyes were kaleidoscopes.
"Nico di Angelo," the boy said. "Please keep talking to me at a minimum."
We all grinned at that, but his steely dark brown eyes showed that he did not consider it as much of a joke.
"Who are you?" Piper queried.
"Percy Jackson," Percy said.
"Atlantis Murphy," Atlantis said.
"Astrid Young," I said.
"Harry Potter," Harry said.
Atlantis gaped at him. "Seriously?" she said. "You're kinda like, a big deal? And you didn't mention that you are the Boy Who Lived?"
