"Wait, what?" Harrison shouted, straining against the force of Olivia's body weight and finally managing to shove her off onto the floor. "You have crossed over from xenophobic zealot to certifiable!"

Olivia lay sprawled on the floor letting the cutting words assault her. Meg could feel her heart accelerate, Harrison was in trouble!

Meg crawled into place, using her fingernails to find the exposed ridge of a ceiling tile.

"They're going to kill you, Harrison, just like they're going to kill all the others." Olivia's threats vibrated in Harrison's ears. "You can't stop Coeuss. Even if you gave us the unlock code, we couldn't stop him. He's thought of everything, calculated every contingency."

Olivia's temper was getting the better of her now. She wasn't used to begging for what she wanted, let alone having to ask.

She narrowed her eyes and picked herself up off the floor. "Don't you see? A piece of you will survive in me. Your legacy could go on."

"You're going to help those women commit mass murder, and your altruistic pitch is that you want me to be your sperm donor?" Harrison yelled back, trying to buy himself some time while he figured out how to get out of this.

"I'm giving you the chance to survive," Olivia repeated through the sting of his rejection. "It's too late for the others, but a part of you could live on."

This was all just too ridiculous for Harrison to believe or even process. He'd gravely misjudged her personality, her strength, and her mental stability, but right now, he didn't know which was more dangerous.

Olivia couldn't believe his callous reaction. Here she was, standing in front of him, offering him the only chance he had at survival, not to mention her phenomenal body, and he was rebuffing her. He was refusing her, and that was unacceptable.

Olivia strolled over to the desk at the opposite end of the room to pick up the dagger Sarah had given her. She turned the blade over in her palm, letting it flash in the candlelight.

"Oh, what the hell is that?" Harrison asked, his eyes widening.

"I gave you a chance." Olivia seemed to tell the knife before bringing her eyes up to his. "I tried to reason with you, but it seems you've lost all reason."

Meg could see the nasty curve of the blade, she knew she only had seconds before Olivia would strike.

"Takes crazy to spot crazy," Harrison retorted.

"Who are you to tell me I'm crazy?" Olivia questioned as she stalked closer. "I'm one of the few willing to do something about humanity's future, while you-"

The scratching sound above Olivia's head cut her off, forcing her to look straight up. The last thing she saw was a bony human foot flying straight for her face.

The muscles surrounding Meg's rattled bones seized up at the pain of the sudden impact. She'd smacked Olivia right between the eyes with her heel, twisting her body to ensure that Meg landed on top of her human crash pad.

Olivia wasn't moving at all, probably knocked out cold, but Meg still needed to check.

Gingerly, she tested her injured blood soaked arm, assessing its ability to follow her commands. Painstakingly, Meg sat up on Olivia's chest to place two fingers on her neck. There was still a heartbeat in her chest.

"I could kiss you right now!" Harrison's mouth had betrayed him before his mind even knew what had happened.

Meg didn't hear his revelation; she was already up and jogging over to the desk at the far wall.

She bent down, ran her nails down the surface and deftly yanked back a square panel. Using Olivia's knife, she stripped away a fistful of lengthy red, blue, and orange wires.

Meg's head snapped up to check on Harrison, who was wearing a mixture of shock and awe on his face.
