In the tower there was always the few room that would never be seen, one of those rooms was (F/n) (L/n) room. No matter what the only person to ever go in or out was them. There was never a sound that escaped the room, not even a mutter. No one knew what was in that one room, until one day a mission went wrong

That mission had left (Y/n) in an extremely unstable condition, confined to a hospital bed in the med bay. Steve found next to them, silently praying in his head for them to heal. Of course that was not the case, they knew that they would die soon and so they had to give a message

"Steve" In a raspy voice, quickly getting the soldiers attention, "I need you to read this to the team when you leave" He nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat

Softly he took the letter his teammate gave him, there was a small lump found in the envelope. A few moments had passed, then all that was heard was the beep from the machine, signaling that the heart and stopped. (F/n) (L/n) was gone, from a mission that spiraled down the wrong path

Steve took a slow breath, rising out of the chair he resided in. Looking at the envelope, he slowly went to the lounge where everyone else was

"They're gone" That was what was heard by all of the Avengers, "They told me to read this to you guys" The envelope slowly opened, revealing a neatly folded letter and a key

"Dear team, if you are reading this then it must mean I've died. Inside this envelope is the letter you are reading now and a key.

This is the key to my bedroom, it unlocks the door. Inside will reveal why none of you have ever seen it.

When you go into my room, look at the wall, remember what it looks like then turn off the lights and look at it again. I know that I am gone, but do not grieve, remember I will always be with you guys.

Love, (F/n) (L/n)"

Steve read the letter off to his team, word by word until he finished it. Looking at the key in his hand

"Let's go see what they meant, let's go see what they kept hidden until now" Nat stood from where she was, everyone else slowly joining her until all of them reached the infamous door that remained locked

As the door opened, the avengers were greeted with paintings and drawings covering the walls, on the far wall was a mural of the Avengers, everyone in their suits. Once the lights had all been shut off, did the real art show, everyone was shown in their normal outfits

Tony in his Metallica shirt, holding a glass of scotch. Clint holding a drum stick, looking off somewhere. Nat was in a jumper she stole from Steve, looking around. Steve in his short sleeved shirt, holding a cup of coffee, messy blonde hair. Bruce in his purple shirt, nervously readjusting his glasses. Thor had his long hair pulled back as his face looked like a confused puppy.

Underneath the mural of everyone, written in perfect cursive with white paint said

Heroes may be seen in outfits, big and strong, but the true hero is always found on the inside, without suits of armor and weapons.

Everyone was awestruck with what they saw, how detailed each person was. Bruce slowly walked up to the painting, covering the entire wall. "This is what they hid from us. They were creating this, for us"

Slowly everyone walked up and looked at how detailed every person was, it looked like it was a normal day except it was made in secret yet it looked so real

And now in the tower there is the one room found without a door, that room was the room covered in paint, whenever someone felt upset they would walk into the room and just admire the paintings and drawings made by a person that was loved dearly
