Loki x Reader (Soulmate au)

~~~~flashback Loki's Pov~~~6 years old~~~

Me and (y/n) were running through the halls, using the secret tunnels my mother had shown me, hiding from my brother. (y/n) had an amazing idea to cast a spell on Thor's clothing to make him dance once he wore it

Finally, we reached my quarters, "That was amazing to watch" (Y/n) said giggling under her breath

"Indeed it was; although I must ask you something.." (Y/n) looked at me curiously, "Why would you want to mess with someone you are destined to be with?"

"Why do you say that Loki? You know, no matter what we'll always be together" (Y/n) grabbed my hand, her sleeve rising, showing the mark that was identical to mine; both missing their equal pieces, fitting like a puzzle... Just like us

~~~~Timeskip, 14 years old~~~~~~

Loki's Pov

Me and (y/n) were studying in the gardens once again, this always is our favorite place to be together. I glanced over to her, smiling softly at the sight of my soulmate entranced by the spell book laying in front of her

"Hey Loki" Her soft voice broke my out of my thoughts, "Do you think we're going to be together forever" Her eyes glancing to mine

I softly grasped her hand in mine, "Of course, we are soulmates after all; Made to be together for eternity... Even if something bad happens, we have each other"

"Loki for your crimes against Asgard, you will be severely punished" I looked at the 'man' who I once called father, sat against his throne. He does not even belong to be sat there, what good has he ever done for anyone but himself

Soft footsteps rushing towards us broke me out of my trance; looking to the side, I saw her. "All-father, if you must punish Loki, punish me instead I beg of you" Her eyes glanced to my form kneeling...

Why would this woman even care about me, I'm just the monster everyone's told me to be; "And why would I decide to punish someone innocent instead of the intended; Who would you exactly be?" Odin's thundering voice traveled through the room once more

The woman gently pushed her sleeve up enough to allow me to see her arm, her mark matching mine exactly; "I am (y/n) daughter of (random name), and I will not allow you to harm Loki. If you do intend on hurting him; I insist you do it to me instead"

She stood against Odin, threatening his power of King; Why would my soulmate want to ever protect me? Does she know what I even am, would she stay...

"Fine; Your punishment Lady (Y/n) will be that you are now banished from Asgard, you may not return until the end of Asgard and if you do return; You shall be immediately put to death" As Odin spoke, memories flooded through my head; All of them with her and I together... My soulmate... She protected me and yet I haven't even thought of her nor given a passing glance in years

Tears burned in the back of my eyes as I watched her retreating form; If only I could take back all the years I've ignored my love...

~~~~~~~~Real Time, At the Tower~~~~

No one's Pov

Loki sits reading on the couch, it's just a normal day in the Avengers tower. Tony's at the minibar drinking scotch, Nat and Clint are throwing darts, Wanda and Pietro talking in Sovokian, Steve, Bucky, and Sam are talking (aka Steve trying to keep the two children from beating each other up, for waffles) and Thor is just eating Pop-tarts.

"Hey, Point-break," Stark's voice intruded the blissful silence, "When hasn't Reindeer Games ever not scowled at something" He pointed towards the silent god, taking a sip of his beverage as he waited

"Ah, my brother used to be quite the joyful soul," Thor softy smiled at the memories of old pranks he used to create with her, "Whenever he was with her, laughter was always heard between the two. The saying of soulmates bringing out the best of the other was quite true between them" Thor quietly trailed off as his thoughts wandered off to the day it happened

All they hear is the sound of a book slamming closed and see Loki storming off somewhere, most likely to the library. Stark arches one of his eyebrows. "Him have a soulmate, impossible, there's no one in the entire world that would want to date that psycho." All throughout the tower, just about all the Avengers had found their soulmate; the ones with matching marks linking them together..

"Aye, my brother and his soulmate were inseparable, but sadly the slowly drifted apart, then one day she took a punishment meant for him; Sadly she was banished from Asgard and Loki was never the same after that day" Nat's voice broke in the conversation, "Wow, so Loki apparently 'lost' his soulmate and now hates everybody, Thor do you remember the name of her?"

Nat question, seemingly interested in the story. "Their name was (y/n), very wonderful person, always seemed to bring the best out of everyone; She had (H/c) hair with bright (e/c) eyes"

"I think I might just know them" Nat softly bit her lip, "I met her a while ago; She told me how she grew up with her soulmate but got separated... I think she may just be the same person"

"Lady Natasha could you please have this friend of yours come over here so I may meet them", Nat replied with a quick sure and starts calling them, to ask.

~~~~~~~~Timeskip, arrival~~~~~~~~~~

(Y/n)'s Pov

I exited the elevator, meeting Nat in what I assume is the lounge area of where she lives."Hey Nat, what did you need me for," I meet her near the couch, taking note of an old book laying on the side table

"Hey, so I just wanted you to meet two of my friends, you might know them. Just sit on the couch and feel free to read the book, be back in a few" She said, walking towards a hallway, I guess I should try not to die of boredom. I sit where Nat was sitting before and start reading the book while messing with the necklace that I've always had. It's a small chain necklace that has a few emeralds and (choice of gems) on it.

After a few minutes, I'm intrigued by the book and don't notice that Nat with her friends. Nat cleared her throat, gaining my attention from the hardcover to where she stood with...

"So don't freak out, but I was talking with a friend and we had a hunch. I'm pretty sure you may recognize these two guys" She motioned towards the two boys I haven't seen in eons

I glanced between them, "Is it really you two? It's been eons since..." I trailed off, remembering the incident

"It is quite good to see you once more" Thor walked to me, engulfing me into a tight hug "I have to say, I have quite missed seeing you"

As he slowly let me go, I faced Loki; disbelief covering his face, "I've missed you"

In a flash, I become embraced into a tight hold. His arms wrapping around my body as I bring mine to his shoulders, his voice breaking through my hair, "I thought I would never see you again... I'd never been able to fix all the wrongs I've done to you"

Gently grasping his face in my hands, I look into his eyes, unshed tears in both of ours; "I can assure you, I will not be leaving anytime soon. I've just gotten you back, I'm not giving you up easily"

Smiling softly, he places his head against mine, grasping my hands in his own, "I do not plan on letting you go anytime soon my love"
