"What's up?" I ask as I put my pencil down on my study desk.

"Are you free now?" The voice from the other side asks me.

"Umm...not really. I'm doing my homework."

"Wow, so you're that free to even have the time to lie about what you're doing."

"Mase...."

"Emm..."

"You know that beside the romance ones, I also read a number of thriller ones right?"

"Yessss..."

"So I have a very good idea on how to murder someone and hide the body without leaving any traces," I sweetly warn him.

"There there. Now there's no need to go all psycho just because I called you a liar. We can settle this if you help me in setting up a prank."

I straighten up as soon as that golden five letter word spills out of his tongue. "I'm all ears now."

Mason chuckles. "We're doing this because it's been a long time since we pranked someone and al—"

"But didn't we play a prank on you boys like two weeks ago?" I ask without thinking twice.

Why am I always blurting things out without thinking twice?!

"When?" Mason questions, luckily not using his brain which is actually good for the first time.

"When you lost the bet..."

"What you said, Emma. That's a bet, not a prank. Damn girl! Not pranking someone really messed with your already messed up head. Tut tut tut," he fakes sympathy, "what am I going to do with you my not so innocent, crackhead friend?!"

"Done with your theatrics?" I try to glare lasers at him through the phone.

"Yep," he says popping the 'p'. "Actually, you owe me for helping you with this prank."

"Get lost. Friends always do these pranks together. Why do I owe it to you this time?"

"Because Zach and Kevin are planning a prank on you and Dawn."

"What?!" I stand up from my chair. "When did this happen? And more importantly, why are you telling me this?"

"It just casually came up and so the boys decided to prank you both. I, being the best friend of yours, want to help you girls." He boasts.

I still don't buy it. "Why are you trying to help us?"

"Should I go on and on about how a dotted friend I am? I care for yo—"

It went on for another five minutes, and I still didn't believe him. So the back and forth went on how friends should trust each other for another fifteen minutes and still I didn't believe him.

"What if this is the part of your plan? What if this is your boys' first step to prank us. Or maybe me?"

"EMMA!" He screeches which forces me to take the phone away from my ear. I put it at a distance and without putting on speaker also, I can hear his screams and shouts on how I should trust my friends more than anything in this fake world.

"Alright alright, I believe you, Mason! Now stop screaming at me!" I shout at him.

"Now why are you screaming?" He yells back.

Five minutes later...

"Now tell me this, why aren't they pranking Sophia?" I ask him once we finally settle down after shouting at each other for no reason.
