Adrien slowly reached up and touched his forehead. The air felt cool on his face. His eyes flickered open in a daze.

Where am I?

He pushed himself up and realized there was no ground. It puzzled him. No kind of gravity law can explain this. The distance was a soft gray sheet of light. A nice feeling of warmth took over him, soothing his nerves. For a minute, he felt almost too content. But heaven only lasted a minute.

A blood curling scream sent chills through his body. Adrien spun around, wide eyed, heart thudding.

A figure was lying on the ground, motionless. It sacred the living daylights out of Adrien.

What kind of a haunted house am I trapped in?

He approached steadily, hands shaking. The wind felt icy cold on his skin. The closer he got, the more vivid the colors appeared to be.

Ladybug!

All of a sudden, he remembered.

I'm Adrien... Cat Noir! My father is Hawkmoth. Ladybug...

Adrien swallowed hard. His eyebrows knitted together. He became frantic as he searched inside his mind for answers.

He couldn't remember who Ladybug was.

He sped up his pace, confused and angry. His blood boiled in his veins as he knelt down beside her. His father must've done this. What a traitor...

Her face was alarmingly pale, body covered in a mess of cuts and bruises. Adrien reached for her wrist, praying to dear lord or whatever god who was listening to find a pulse.

Suddenly, Ladybug jerked upwards and grabbed his arm firmly. Her eyes darted around, then stared at him with so much loathing that he became speechless.

Her voice croaked, short ragged breaths between every word.

"You should have known."

Then she became furious. Her grip on his arm became executing.

"HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE KNOWN?"

Adrien winced and shuddered under her horrifying glare. He was petrified. He opened his mouth but no sound came out.

Then her body went limp and she disappeared into thin air.

Suddenly, he could speak again. So he screamed.

He screamed because he couldn't find the right words to explain the hurt and confusion he was feeling. He screamed with every fiber in his being. He screamed like a demon inside him has awakened and ripped him in half. He screamed because she died before he knew who the girl behind the mask was.

Suddenly, as if someone had covered the canvas with a sheet of cloth, the world became pitch black.

"Adrien... Adrien..."

He felt himself fall backwards onto the ground like some kind of invisible force had just knocked the wind out of him.

"Adrien... Adrien?"

He opened his eyes again, and his world collapsed into a whirlwind of blue. Ladybug was hunched over him, her face a mixture of worry and pain. Adrien sat up so fast, his face almost crashed into hers.

"Marinette!" He wrapped her inside a bone crushing hug, "You're Marinette! My god..."

Ladybug, who was surprised by the outburst, smiled. "Yeah, who else would I be?" She pulled away, and squeezed his hand, "I was about to leave. Are you okay?"

Adrien stuttered for a moment then smiled softly. "Yeah- yeah I'm okay. Just... nightmare."

Ladybug sighed. "I could tell. Be safe okay? I need to find Hawkmoth."

Adrien nodded. There wasn't much time. He'll have to deal with his emotions later.

"You too, Mari. Be careful, please... please..."

Marinette promised, then headed out the door. She reeled her arm back, gave Adrien one last smile, and sent her yo-yo flying. Two seconds later, she disappeared.

The sun was coming out.

Adrien looked around. Nathalie, Master Fu and Marianne sat together on the floor. Their gaze on the door were Ladybug exited.

Nathalie cleared her throat when she caught him staring. "Adrien-."

Adrien quickly turned away, disgusted. He threw his legs off the couch and got up. Master Fu stopped him before he left.

"Adrien. I want you to understand the reason behind your father's actions..."

"Whatever intention it is, it doesn't make things right, does it?" Adrien replied angrily.

Nathalie spat it out before he could walk out. "Your mother didn't disappear. She's sick."

That was all it took for Adrien to stop dead in his tracks. Slowly, he turned around, tears in his eyes and teeth gritted. His voice was broken. "You what?"

"When your mother became sick, she fell into a coma. Your father hid her body and told the press that she disappeared. So many years later, he decided to steal the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous so he could wish her back to life."

"Adrien." Marianne said, "I understand its a lot to take in. I really suggest you sit down before you collapse again, dear."

Adrien didn't seem to have heard her.

"Can he?" He asked, almost in wonder, "Can he bring her back?"

"Yes but that would be awfully selfish." Master Fu said.

"But my mother-."

"Adrien." Master Fu tried getting his attention, "We both know that's not happening."

Tears streamed uncontrollably down his face. Adrien could feel the adrenaline in his veins. His mother... could be brought back to life! Suddenly he was five years old, unwrapping his Christmas gifts at the base of the tree. The scent of firewood and pine trees and gingerbread... and his mother's perfume. How great it would be!

But he snapped out of it.

Master Fu is right... this would be selfish... it wouldn't be right.

Adrien exhaled and flopped down on the couch. He ran his hand through his hair and blinked.

"Sorry." He said.

"Don't be." Marianne got up from the floor and sat down next to her, "It really has been a lot these few days."

"Mari!" He exclaimed. "I need to help her."
