Log #12- The Myth, Voice of Aluroexah

The story teller told me when I was younger that there exists a Giant Worm that hunts in the sky, said to be capable of consuming the many moons whenever it wished, watching and observing outside of the circling of what we knew, waiting for a chance to consume those that failed to provide it with offerings and gifts. My parents and family would continue to tell me this story as I got older. Even when learning along my peers, we would be told the story. Plays would be created about it, art based around it, and even readings would cover its supposed existence and power.

But I always thought this part of our lore was the stupidest thing ever.

I mean, I can't say this aloud, to say that would get me a good boxing on the ears, but just the preceived reality of this thing always made my eyes slit. We are a people of logic on my world, within our society, what you can touch or provide physical evidence for, is fact.

But for us to go around and talk about a supposedly mythical, immortal worm that floats in the sky, without any physical evidence provided, as pure fact, it's just... hypocritical. If we were like a tribe that talked of spirits like fact everyday, then maybe I wouldn't be so judgemental, but in the circumstances of us, it's just ridiculous.

For example, a good time ago, the majority of my people didn't even believe in the existence of a certain region's common predatory species, known as a Y-Wolfsx, even though there were many that saw them everyday, simply because no one manged to kill, showcase, or get a photo of it. And it was all because of the simple fact that their hides can reflect peircing weapons with ease (we also hadn't developed the blasting or firing techniques that could harm it at the time), were unable to create a sturdy enough trap (though I don't know why the claw and bite marks weren't enough!), and as a result of its tendency to manipulate electricity and magnetic fields around it to sense prey, photography didn't work on it. It wasn't until some crazy lunatic used their self as bait and captured it that my people finally recognized it as a species and not as some unidentifiable creature.

Yet that's exactly what the problem is with the strange worm! There is no evidence what so ever, but the story says that if you don't believe in it, you get eaten! But even if you did get eaten, logically the blame should more so go to something along the line of suffering an attack from a predator, getting injured during a natural disaster, or literally anything else.

It's really dumb to be frank.

But I guess things like that happen. People choose to believe what they want. But still, because of all this chaos, I've found myself on the highest mountain range in the world in order to find out what I can. It's silly and foolish, but I'm curious. Hopefully it really doesn't try and eat me if it turns out there is some reality beyond the fiction.

Wish me luck.
