"And I'm not scared to say those words
With you I'm safe, we're fallin' like the stars, we're fallin' in love."

It started with a fever.

Hannah finally found a job at the same hospital as Dylan as a translator, a good way for her to keep up with remembering the French language, the kids having special French classes to keep up theirs.

Louis mainly worked from home, seeming as he was on a long hiatus from the band he was working on small solo bits, spending time in his music room at home, strumming the guitar or pressing keys on the piano. This was all interrupted with a call from the school— Declan had caught a fever. Louis thought nothing of it and went to pick him up, putting him in bed and giving his flushed warm forehead a kiss.

Then came the pains and then it was his small tears and the way he tugged at their duvet at 2:18 in the morning crying because he couldn't breathe. This was all it took for Hannah to wake immediately, shaking Louis awake and telling him she were to drive him to hospital.

Louis had to stay home, as Diana and Dalton had school. Hannah felt her vision blur as she drove wearing her cotton cloud pyjama bottoms with a mismatched panda top, covered in a warm coat and her feet clad in trainers without socks. Declan was sat in the back in his pyjamas and a coat, no shoes covering his wiggling toes as tears streaked down his cheeks, his chest rising and falling erratically as he found it difficult to breathe, his head pounding in pain as he clung onto his tortoise toy.

Hannah runs into the hospital, spitting out words to get him seen first, telling them she feared the worst— a leukaemia relapse. Declan was seen almost immediately, blood tests being run whilst oxygen was given to him to calm him down, but he went into a panic from being back in a hospital again, Hannah trying to remain calm for him but it was no use, another doctor having to come and change his oxygen to something stronger- something to put him to sleep just to calm his body so they could check his fluids.

Hannah held his hand as it all happened, shaking fingers brushing through the brunette waves on his head as she choked on her tears, answering their questions to the best of her abilities.

Hannah hadn't realised she had fallen asleep until she was woken, launching herself into familiar arms as fresh tears came.

"Dyl— he- I— and-" Dylan shushed her gently, holding her in his arms as he kissed her forehead, telling her it was okay. Hannah sniffled as she glanced up at Declan who was sound asleep, her heart dropping when realising they were back so soon. She glanced outside at the autumn leaves, trees swaying lightly, leaves slowly fading into an orange. She hoped and prayed Declan could experience Halloween.

After Hannah had calmed down, Dylan went to go get her a hot drink, apologetic as he had to leave her to tend to his job as she sat there staring into her drink in disbelief. Everything was going so well. Louis and her had mended their relationship, she was finally gaining weight and back to being healthy, the kids no longer needed extra support lessons as they had finally caught up.

Bad things always happen to me, I don't deserve good things.

She shook away her thoughts, knowing she had more pressing concerns as she sent a text to Louis, telling him which room they were in and what was happening.

The twins had celebrated their birthday in the last month of summer— the tender age of 5 which made Hannah even more teary eyed. Louis and Hannah gifted them a kitchen set which they loved and looked forward to play with every day after school. Soon after their birthday came Hannah's where Louis surprised her with a car. She hadn't celebrated her birthday in so long, tears welling in her eyes over the fact he remembered and chose to gift her with something as extravagant as a car.
