Mrs. Humphrey walked into the class a while later. The class was a bit rowdy so she took almost five minutes trying to settle us down.

When she finally accomplished this, she gave a sigh of relief and smiled.

"Okay class," she began, "As you all know, your final exams are approaching."

We all groaned at this.

Mrs. Humphrey rolled her eyes at us. "As I was saying, the final exams are fast approaching and some of you are currently, hmmmm, failing!"

I'm pretty sure she looked at me when she said failing. Oh crap.

"I really must commend Ryder McGraw for his current performance in Chemistry so far. He just joined us and he's beating all of you guys."

I could sense a tiny bit of frustration in her voice as she spoke.

"Could everyone please give Mr. McGraw a round of applause?"

Ryder cringed at the name Mr. McGraw. I silently chuckled to myself. The whole class gave Ryder a round of applause. The loudest clapping came from all the girls. Except me.

"Now, let's divert our attention a little to the people that are not currently doing well in Chemistry."

She fixed her eyes on me.

"Miss Collins. What's happening to your performance? Your grades are drastically falling!"

Wow. This woman has stepped beyond bounds. I mean, she's embarrassing me in front of everyone! A round of applause to you, Mrs. Humphrey. You've just made my naughty list.

"I'd like to see you after the class to address this issue. Is that clear?"

How can't it possibly be clear? You are standing right in front of me. Plus, you need a mint. Or two.

"I said, IS THAT CLEAR?!"

"Yes."

"Yes, who?"

"Yes, Mrs. Humphrey!"

"Good." Her usual beaming face returned and she went back to sit on her desk.

That was very embarrassing. The whole class was staring at me. Some of them were murmuring among themselves and some of them were laughing. Gee, thanks a lot, guys.

Ryder was also laughing. Although, it was obvious he tried to keep it in. The only person who looked pitiful was Rhylee. I turned and looked at the back of the class to gave her a quick smile. She smiled back.

"Silence!"

Mrs. Humphrey's voice works miracles. Immediately, the whole class fell as quiet as a graveyard at midnight.

"Okay, class. Today's topic is Covalent Bonding." She said with a huge grin.

Everyone responded with a humongous and loud groan. Everyone except Ryder, who had a huge grin plastered across his adorable face.

The bell gave a sonorous and loud sound, indicating fourth period's over. Saved by the bell.

"Okay, class dismissed."

The whole class stood up and was walking toward the door, except me.

"You guys should read about Covalent Bonding. It will come out in the test next week. Mr. McGraw, please wait behind."

Ryder was just at the door. He groaned and came to Mrs. Humphrey's desk. I stood up from my seat and joined him at the desk.

Mrs. Humphrey flashed her usual smile when she looked at Ryder. She looked at me and the smile turned upside down.

"Miss Collins. You are at the bottom of the class in Chemistry, but in other subjects you are currently doing well. Why? Is Chemistry too difficult?"

"No. It's just that I don't have time to study for Chemistry."

"That's not a good enough excuse Miss Col-"

"Sorry to interrupt, but.....what does this have to do with me?"

She looked at him with a smile. "Hold on dear."

Dear.

"Miss Collins. I think the best option to get you back on track is to get you a tutor."

"A tutor?" Ryder and I said at the same time.

"Yes, a tutor. That's where you come in Ryder."

"O-kay?"

"I want you to tutor Samantha. Is that alright with you?"

He looked at me and smirked. Gosh, that smirk is a killer.

"Yeah, sure."

"Is it okay with you, Sam?"

"Yes it is."

"Great! You guys can start today. After school."

"Okay." We said together.

"You guys can leave now."

"Bye Mrs. H."

"Bye Mrs. Humphrey."

We both walked out of the class side-by-side. Suddenly, Ryder stopped walking. Then I stopped walking.

"Sam?"

"Yes."

"I'm happy to be your tutor."

I smiled. "Me too."
