Mingyu glanced at Eunwoo, who looked more tense than himself; he was clenching his jaw, and his pale complexion turned beet red. His usual warm eyes went hazy as they had been standing for the past two hours, under the blazing sun, listening to their senior's speech about loyalty and all the useless garbage. This part of orientation sure brought joy to the seniors, since they could bully the freshmen as much as they want.

Just because some people were late in the morning, all of them had to suffer together in the scorching sun. Loyalty.

Mingyu secretly glanced to the corner where the girls were standing in line, there were only five of them. He couldn't help but worry for the girls, as for them it might be twice as hard already.

One of the seniors walked to the corner, as expected, he would mess with the girls. Mingyu watched his staggering walk as if he wanted to flaunt some swagger, but he looked like a drunken man instead.

He called out one of the girls, thus she followed behind him, her back was facing the freshmen, her dark shoulder-length hair was flying lightly in the summer breeze. She was quite tall with slender legs, everybody was already checking her out, even though nobody could see her face yet.

She was sporting a black long sleeve t-shirt, ripped jeans with black canvas shoes, nothing was out of the ordinary.

The sleazy looking senior talked to her for a while, and she shook her head a few times when he was talking. Mingyu felt uneasy since he stood in the far back he couldn't hear a thing.

"Everyone, this newbie just ignored our order!" His finger was pointing at her head furiously.

"One for all, all for one, because one of you disappoints us greatly, everybody, on the ground, now!" he roared. His harsh voice was echoing across the field.

Everyone groaned in unison.

She also got down on the ground, and the senior started to count 50 push-ups.

It was taking a while for all of them to finish the punishment. Everyone was groaning in pain. Mingyu being the first to stand up among his line, looked up to the front to check whether she was still alive or not. Some of the boys were already collapsing helplessly.

She stood up, brushing the dirt on her hands, and finally, she turned around and facing the crowd. She looked breathless, sweat was dripping from her temples, she shook her head a few times to move her hair away from her forehead.

Even from afar, she looked angelic. Mingyu blinked a few times, to make sure he was not seeing or imagining things because he was dead tired. He heard some gasps, and low whistling, most of the boys were already standing on their feet. So, he wasn't the crazy one, all of them could see her too.

She ran her slender fingers on her dark hair, ruffling her hair quickly. Most of the spectators were holding their breath because she looked so cool while doing it.

She started to walk back to her origin, but another senior grabbed her hand, to stop her. She tossed his hand away swiftly, and the crowd was cheering for her. As if watching a weekend drama on TV.

That was very entertaining, but he felt bad for her, the seniors were treating her as a joke.

                                                                           ***

"I kinda feel bad for the others, they have to suffer just because we were late for what, 10 minutes?" Eunwoo grabbed his cola, and his long fingers were playing with the straw. A frown crossed his cherubic face.

"It was 5 minutes, dude," Jackson corrected him. His brown eyes flickered with irritation.

They were reflecting on what happened today, an awful orientation day. The seniors were all hard to please. There were so many extreme punishments, but on the bright side, the freshmen got closer. For instance, Mingyu and Eunwoo became closer to Jackson, who also came late this morning. They had separate punishment aside from the one which the whole department had to endure.

"I don't like that Jongin senior, he disrespected the girls, it was too much to watch." Mingyu was fiddling with the chopsticks in his left hand, he grimaced at the memory.

"Mina? She is a warrior of the Sun!" Jackson was laughing loudly at his own jokes. His thick eyebrows were raising excitedly.

Mingyu looked at him in disbelief, Eunwoo was casually chewing on his straw, while giggled at Jackson's antics.

"So, her name is Mina?" Mingyu asked Jackson, who was busy, chewing his meal. Mingyu suddenly stopped eating. His obsidian eyes were twinkling with curiosity.

They immediately knew that Jackson was talking about that particular cool girl.

Jackson nodded as he swallowed. "I was in the same registration batch as her, y'all know the foreigners had a different protocol. I remember, she was alone, and fortunately, she met me, a total gentleman, and we're in the same department!" Jackson victoriously clapped his hands. His wide silly grin allowed him to expose his pearly teeth.

Mingyu and Eunwoo were awestruck at his silly antics. His cheerful disposition would be enough to light up every single house in the country. Their college life would never be boring with him on their side.

"Seriously dude, that girl came from Japan to study in the jungle like here? She surely has a mentality of steel_" Jackson shook his head in disbelief. He dropped his silly grin rather abruptly.

"You came from Hong Kong yourself, man. Be proud!" Eunwoo praised him with a little smile. His soft voice filled with sincerity.

"That's not the point, sweet Jesus, I'm a grown ass man, I can do whatever I want since age seventeen. I can study in Africa for all I care, and my parents won't be worried, but for a girl? A girl will be forever someone's precious daughter." Jackson turned serious. Eunwoo gulped at Jackson's duality.

"And her parents let her study Mechanical Engineering, basically when 90% of the students are male? And in an enemy country?" Jackson talked fast to let out his frustration at his friends' lack of empathy.

"Yeah, to be honest, I think she's crazy to pick this major," Eunwoo blurted out. He raised one of his eyebrows unknowingly.

"Japan and Korea's relationship is not so bad anymore, at least we don't hold guns over each other's throats. Economically, yes there will always be competition, but which country doesn't compete in economic development? Every country hustles for the better economy," Mingyu rebutted Jackson's statement but seeing Jackson's eyes got wider,

He quickly added, "oh, if you mean about the technology development, then yes I agree, we're in the enemy state." Mingyu closed his statement coolly.

"That's what I meant, pal...you are a pretty bad mind reader! Poor kid," Jackson patted Mingyu's head like a dog.

The taller boy looked at him with a scowl. "Have you washed your filthy hands, Wang?" Mingyu hissed. His husky voice was reverberating with malice.

"Well, I'm doing it right now, dude," Jackson said. His serene expression was truly commendable. Eunwoo chuckled under his breath.

Not long after, Jackson ran for his life because Mingyu tried to kick his balls.

Eunwoo was enjoying their bickering. What Jackson said, made sense for him, it was intriguing, and he also curious about Mingyu's reaction regarding Mina.
