C A M I

"Babe," Colby groans from next to me. I huff and turn over, cuddling closer into the blankets. "Babe, check your phone oh my god." He says, and then I hear it. My phone is buzzing uncontrollably on the table next to his bed. I slowly push myself up and he reaches over to unplug my phone and hand it to me. My eyes squint against the harsh light and I struggle momentarily to turn the brightness down.

5 missed calls from Cooper

"Jesus Christ," I mutter, typing in the code. My phone is jumpy and slow from all the messages flooding through so it takes a moment for everything to load. Colby sits up next to me and looks over my shoulder, his body warm against my bare back.

"What is it?" He asks, his voice deep and tired. I shake my head, not knowing. I scroll up past all of the 'Cami wake up' type messages. Nothing there explains what's going on, so I click on Cooper's contact and give him a call. He answers almost immediately and I place him on speaker for Colby to hear.

"Cami? Oh my god finally."

"Cooper, what the hell is going?" I ask tiredly.

"You need to get to the hospital right now."

"What the fuck? Why?" My body starts to wake up as my anxiety kicks in. I crawl over Colby and out of bed, placing my phone on the desk so I can hear him as I throw on clothes. I slip on the first tee shirt I see — which happens to be a red now or never shirt that is way too big for me — and some track shorts, Colby slipping on a shirt and shoes behind me.

"Adrianna was in a car accident. Cami- Cami it's bad. Really fucking bad."

At his words my heart drops. Colby's eyes lock with mine, his face filled with the same fear and confusion as mine. My throat feels dry and my hands start to shake as I run them anxiously through my hair. "I'll drive." Colby tells me and I nod, not being able to form words. Cooper tells me he'll text me the details but they won't let anyone but family see her, so he told them I was her sister and that I was on my way.

Colby and I race down the stairs. Elton is in the kitchen doing something, and even though it's two in the morning I'm not surprised he's awake. He stares at us confusedly as we run past but we don't make any attempt to stop and explain. I wait, impatiently tapping my foot next to Colby's car as he grabs his keys and fiddled with them. My heart was in my stomach and I couldn't keep my thoughts straight.
